Ranitidine side effects

As above - I've been prescribed ranitidine for excessive heartburn. Great or so I thought.....
I wanted to see if anyone has had any weird side effects?

The heartburn has settled down- great....but I'm not sleeping at night & I'm finding myself falling asleep during the day- not just once but 2.or 3 times for an hour or 2 at a time.
Couple that with vomiting excess stomach acid, complete loss of appetite, no energy, really achey legs
Was constipation which has now turned into diahorrea (TMI sorry) but it's just like yellow liquid rather than your average loose stools.
I'm feeling like I shouldn't be taking these tablets much longer as they're clearly not agreeing with me but feeling like it's catch 22 in that if i stop - the heartburn will fire up again.
Any ideas or wisdom would be greatly appreciated Confused

You have my sympathy. Was prescribed two weeks ago. Great the first day or so I thought. Insomnia and headaches. So now get to choose between heartburn or insomnia headache. How many weeks are you? Would it be worth trying something else.

Oh and my legs are unusually tired this week but didn't think it was a side effect

I have been on these the past few weeks. I'm 32 weeks tomorrow. Wasn't sure if it was them making me feel dodgey or just to put it down to pregnancy!

So glad im not alone. Even hubby is getting concerned that it's the tabs and he is so laid back that he's almost horizontal lol. But if its making me feel this rubbish it can't be doing baby any good surely?

Ranitidine was ok for me, but when I posted here about terrible HB there were a few prescription meds that were suggested or other posters had used, so I'm sure your GP will be able to offer an alternative.

At 32 weeks you could still have a long way to go definitely go back to the gp. You can't go on like that.

Go back and ask for omeprazole instead. It was brilliant for my pregnancy heartburn.
