Never did it and never had stitches or a tear.

I did! I didn't tear but I did need an episiotomy, so I don't think it "helped" me particularly. But anecdotal evidence does not a scientific conclusion make, so I'd say it is worth a try if you have the time and inclination.

I did it and teared forward.

Oddly while doing it I thought I was very stretchy anyway. I do have an odd lack of visible stretch marks which midwives and my OH have commented on.

The stats on it are only like it works in 25% of cases.
