I feel so weird, I have took 3 pregnancy test all positive one being a clear blue which said 1-2 weeks however phone the doctors and I need to wait until 17th October to see the early pregnancy unit, this is making me anxious as I haven't had my bloods done and I still feel like it isn't real even feel like buying more test and testing again.. am I being crazy??

Why do you need to go to the EPU? Most pregnant women don’t see anyone until their midwife booking appointment between 8-10 weeks, unless there’s problems.

OurMiracle1106 · 20/09/2018 22:04

They never confirmed any of my pregnancies just took my word for it that I’d had a positive test and dates of last period. First lot of bloods I had was at my 12 week scan.

I know it might not feel real yet but it will do and no test is going to tell you any different. You can do as many as you want and they will all still say pregnant. (Unless you drink far far too much and then take one resulting in watered down urine!)

Stephisaur · 20/09/2018 22:05

It’s not really all that common to have your bloods done. Pregnancy tests are very accurate nowadays so doctors are happy to take a positive test at face value.

Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

No one checked I was actually pregnant until my 12 week scan!! No bloods until 14 weeks. They just took my word for it and I only got the faintest positive and never tested again!!!

PerspicaciaTick · 20/09/2018 22:06

I thought it was pretty standard that your first point of contact would be your booking appointment with a MW, closely followed by bloods and then a scan at 12 weeks at the latest.

thankyou everyone think I am just over reacting, I'm not sure why I have to go there. I have had two really traumatic pregnancys before but the person on the phone who gave me the appointment didn't know that I am getting refered to specialist so hopefully won't be long. just doesn't seem real yet lol. think am just to excited and impatient!!

This is my first and I was really surprised no one wanted to check I was actually pregnant until my twelve week scan! I did a regular test which I posted on here and people told me it was definitely as the line was so dark, but having never seen a positive before I got a digital one that said 3 weeks plus. I did the other regular test a week later because I couldn't really believe it and we booked a private early reassurance scan at around ten weeks. NHS were very blasé and seemed fine to trust the shop test until twelve week scan. I'd been told conception without help want possible for me, so really struggled to get my head around it until we had the early private scan.

Nobody double checked I was pregnant until my 12 week scan either - I was really worried I'd get there and there wouldn't be a baby because I'd not tested again since 6 weeks! I explained my worried to the midwife and she couldn't understand my concerns at all, but I guess it's normal for them that they take it at face value when a women says she's tested positive.

userabcname · 22/09/2018 09:53

It is so weird OP. No one confirmed mine either and at the 12 week scan I did have this 'eeek' feeling of wondering whether I genuinely was pregnant or not! I think home pregnancy tests are very reliable though so as long as you have positives, you are pregnant!

MsHopey · 22/09/2018 11:05

It was a shock with my first pregnancy. But it's pretty standard.
I thought they'd at least get a urine sample off me to do their own test to make sure I wasn't lying.
That sounds silly but I'm sure someone has tried it on in the past.
But the midwife sees you for your booking in appointment at around 8 weeks.
They then send you for blood before 10 week, I imagine they check your HCG Levels with thar blood.
So they should know your pregnant from that blood before your scan.

SoyDora · 22/09/2018 16:50

Pregnancy doesn’t need confirming! I’m on my third and have never had a pregnancy confirmed (either blood or urine test), just a booking in appt at the midwife at 8-10 weeks and scan at 12ish weeks.

SoyDora · 22/09/2018 16:52

They don’t test your HCG levels at your booking in bloods MsHopey. Certainly not in my area anyway.

Hi I have had quite a few positive tests (7in total) the first day of my last period was 3rd august but I know day of conception was august 19th I have been for early scan today (privately) and they found a small fluid filled sac 3.5mm but no sign of baby and no sign of eptopic just been told to wait 2 weeks and have another scan. Could anyone give me any advice on this as you can imagine my minds going crazy. Thanks

mumoftwox · 22/09/2018 17:38

hi, so how many weeks did they estimate you are? I'm kind of in a similar position I have booked a private scan for wedensday. I don't want to wait until 12 November when I don't even know how far along I am. i didn't get a period as just got implant removed on August 6th so not exactly sure how many weeks I am which is making me nervous!! I hope everything works out okay for you mabye ure just too early for it to be detected xx
