Is Senna safe in first trimester?

I’ve been suffering with irregular bowel movements for 5 weeks. I’m 11 weeks pregnant. I think it’s been making my all day nausea worse, which has this week turned into vomiting.

I go very little and it’s basically diarrhoea. Incredibly smelly and not enough volume given all the food I’m eating to stave off the nausea.

A couple of weeks ago GP prescribed lactulose. That didn’t work so someone on here said to tried Movicol, which has increased bowel movements from twice weekly to once every day (usually I go twice a day). It’s just diarrhoea though.

The GP thinks the diarrhoea is ‘overflow’ and I need help to get it moving now, so has prescribed me Senna. I’m not on anti-sickness tablets.

I’ve just taken two tablets but am now panicking because there are lots of warnings online not to take it during pregnancy. It also says on the leaflet not to take it.

Wwyd?

I just wanna feel ok about eating. I’m finding eating such a chore- I do it not to feel sick. But then it makes me vomit it causes me to feel bloated and sore. I’ve also got a tonne of trapped wind and headache.

Oh the glamour of pregnancy!!
