So I had a growth scan at 30 weeks- baby measuring under 5th percentile fluid placenta etc all ok.
So back for another scan next week-
Is it likely she’ll have jumped up the graph ?
Basically wondering how much growth people have seen in two weeks?

Or if still measuring small what happened ?

Or if she has jumped up is that the end of it or will she still be monitored ! So many questions sorry!

I had this as baby slowed down at 30 weeks then at 32 weeks he had gained a whole.pound, the sonographer said sometimes baby's have a lazy growth period then pile.it on xxx

Oh that’s reassuring thankyou!! Did you have another scan after this or were they happy ?

I had growth scans due to high BMI and 2 previous large babies. This one measured small and was predicted to be 6lb 7oz. He was 6lb 4oz, so fairly accurate. Because he was on a lower centile, he had to have his blood sugars tested until he had 3 readings over 2.5, which took 3 days for us. We were on the last attempt, else he would have needed an iv glucose infusion.

Was he 6lb 4oz at term? My consultant mentioned ‘ getting me to 37 weeks’ but barely said anything else so I’m quite confused about what they’ll do if she stays on a low centile

I've had multiple growth scans, the leaps between scans can be incredible.
However, sometimes you do just have a small baby, as long as they are following their growth line and everything is in proportion and other indicators are ok, I'd try not to worry. Some babies are small, some are huge, there is a huge scale of normal with babies.

I had an issue with DD2 around 34w as she was dropping under the 10th percentile and the placenta wasn’t functioning well. (DD1 had also been small with IUGR but it wasn’t picked up). DD2 had a growth spurt though and went back up the chart - some babies grow steadily and others grow in spurts! I continued to have 2 weekly scans but that was because of the issue with the placenta.

Sometimes they prefer to induce early if they are concerned that baby is measuring small but obviously it depends on the case. If the fluid and placenta are looking ok then hopefully they will just leave nature to take its course - some babies are just naturally small but healthy.

I’ve had 2 growth scans so far. On the first one at 27 weeks he was only just in at the bottom of the lowest percentile. Consultant was happy though and changed my scans to every 6 weeks instead of every 4 weeks. My second at 33 weeks he was nearly in the middle percentile. I have another one scheduled at 37 weeks, so will be interesting to see where he’s at. He should be fine, although I’m not very big, Iast time I weighed myself I still hadn’t quite put a stone on, I apparently have a “very neat” bump. I think it must be all baby.

My sister was told on scans baby was very small and at 28 weeks told she wouldn't make it past 30 weeks (early labour) and to prepare for the worst, long story short she went over due baby was PERFECTlY healthy and over 8lbs......

SolitaA · 19/09/2018 22:49

ive been having growth scans since 25 weeks im now 31 weeks and had 1 today. mine was perfectly following like 9th centile (just just under 10 th on chart anyway) and at this scan growth has slowed slightly ( looking at chart i would say 5th centile maybe) So been changed to weekly scans until they decide to induce but hoping to get me to 37 weeks. it all really depends on your next scan but try not to worry. as long as theres growth and placenta/liquor seem ok they will keep baby in. good luck though!! keep eating and trying to sleep

Yes, 6lb 4oz at 38 weeks- went into labour 5 days before planned section. If the baby is bigger or smaller than expected for you they do the blood sugars- in our health board anyway.

We were told it can vary from sonographer to sonographer on the measurements 🙈 DD measured bang on the 50th until 34 weeks when she dropped to below the 10th and the pressure in the umbilical artery was high combined with reduced movements, j was induced that day and she was born via emergency c section shortly after (terrible induction experience 🙈)

As for your situation we were told if they track along the same line all is good, growth scans are renowned for being inaccurate with weight estimates so don’t be too concerned it’s more the measurements then are concerned about 😊

So many different experiences ! I guess I just have to wait and see what Monday brings. It’s just the uncertainty that makes me feel nervous but seeing as everyone’s stories are so different I guess there really is no telling !

I was sent for growth scan at 33 weeks as midwife was concerned growth had dropped off. Scan showed baby just above 10th percentile but with high resistance in cord. I was admitted for 4 days with talk of early c section before being discharged with the plan being regular scans and to try and get to 37 weeks.

My last scan was at 35+6 which showed growth the same and an estimated weight of 5lb 6oz. Was then referred to see consultant at 37+1 to discuss plan of action but my little one made an appearance off his own accord at 36+5 and weighed 5lb 2oz.
