Haematoma

Hi, has anyone ever been diagnosed with one of these in pregnancy? I had my 12 eeek scan last week, and while at it they mentioned I had a haematoma. I had some very light brown spotting at 5-7 weeks, but none since then. I had a scan at 8 weeks and they could see a small area of bleeding. 12 weeks now and have had no more spotting, but they found this at scan. I’m worrying as I don’t know what it is and if it affects the baby. I asked if it was small and she said ‘average’ size, whatever that means?! I am having another scan next week. Should I be worried 😟

I had one. Started brown bleeding at 5/6 week’s got an internal scan saw heartbeat said should be fine. Had red bleed few days later. Scanned again week after first one and said haematoma, no further detail except for one very worrying comment which I won’t repeat as I’ve since found out What she said was wrong. Bled daily until 10/11 weeks and started to dread going to the loo and seeing that horrible blood. Silently worried constantly (had had miscarriage two months before) amd arranged a scan in private health clinic with consultant radiologist when bleeding stopped and still had three weeks until nhs dating scan and wanted to know if it was another MC ASAP. She was amazing and measured it and talked it through with me. She was very reassuring that mine’s was insignificant in comparison with sac Etc Nd would continue to reduce. Wasn’t even mentioned by sonographers at dating or anomaly scan as presumably was so small as to be undetectable or untroubling. Baby almost a year now. Good luck.

They found one on a scan I had at 15 weeks. I was worried sick but by the time I had next scan at 20 weeks it had gone.

Did the nhs arrange a scan? They weren’t interested in seeing me again even with ongoing bleeding.

I had one found in a scan after a bleed and totally fine. No harm to the baby it's between the placenta and the wall of the uterus. Someone explained it to me like a bruise but with blood. No issues it disappeared in a few weeks and the 10 month currently biting my foot shows it had no impact 😂

Also I realised I typed that wrong in my urgency to stop being bitten - a bruise is blood 😂

Anyway yeah the sonographer basically said it's a formation of blood between the uterus and the placenta. Usually it's just because of an irritation from the placenta growing and implanting.

This is from the nhs site -

"After the egg is fertilised, the fertilised egg then goes on to implant itself into the lining of the womb (uterus). Sometimes this results in a little bleeding that shows up on an early scan as a haematoma(collection of blood). This isn’t anything to worry about. When it happens the woman may notice a small amount of vaginal bleeding, but this is not necessarily the case.
The haematoma will gradually disappear and in most cases, the pregnancy remains safe."

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and had one up until 20 weeks.

It was fucking horrible, scary and bled heavily, but the baby is absolutely fine!
