Morning after pill but pregnant?!

Hey everyone.
I had sex with my (now ex) boyfriend two days after the end of my period.
Then two weeks later. The second time I took the morning after pill.
Is it likely I got pregnant from the first time then?
I had a smear before the second time and she said I had discharge and my cervix kept hiding.
I'm thinking it was from the first time, especially as I took the morning after pill the second time.
And I took two tests before my missed period, at night, and they came up straight away with super strong positives.

Im going to try one of those clear blue date tests but I've heard they're not accurate so dunno! I'll give it a go.

I'm assuming I fell pregnant the first time we had sex as the test was very strong before my missed period.

Generally it would be more likely that you fell pregnant the second time as it is typically where a woman would ovulate in a cycle. But it can and does happen at any point during your cycle obviously. It will be difficult to say as it could be that you fell pregnant after the first time or it could be that the pill failed. You could still get a strong positive w couple of days before your period if it was the second occasion. The only way you will really find out is at a dating scan. The midwives will always date your pregnancy by the first day of your last period until the dating scan where it will be amended.

Is it possible that your last period wasn't a period and you could have been pregnant? If it was lighter/shorter that's plausible.

More likely you got pregnant second time. The MAP works to delay ovulation, so if you’ve already ovulated it won’t have worked. Although if you ovulated really early in your cycle it also could potentially have been the first time.

I got pregnant after taking the morning after pill. Was extremely shocked as I took it within 12 hours of having sex and that was supposed to be most effective. I understand it doesn't just delay ovulation but makes your insides less friendly to the sperm. (so technical Grin). Makes the mucus less easy to swim through or something.
Had to have a medical abortion instead.

Also got pregnant after taking the morning after pill within 12 hours here. Would also assume it was the 2nd time as it's closer to ovulation.

2nd time. The MAP isn't 100% and from memory the more expensive one is. Ore effective (Ella?).

I'd say it was the first time. Two weeks after the end of a period is likely to be after ovulation when the egg can no longer be fertilised. Sperm from two days after the end of a period could easily have hung around until ovulation.

I got pregnant after taking the MAP. It can happen unfortunately.

I got pregnant the day after the last day of my period so it can defo happen, sometimes the egg can be released early x

Likely the second time, I know someone who used a condom that split so took morning pill and still got pregnant!

I took a date pregnancy test and it looks like it was the first time! The last few months I'd had really bad ovulation pain and have been being seen by the hospital for tests. This month I had absolutely none so I think my ovulation is all out of whack anyway. But yep, looks like it was the first time! But I'll know for sure on my dating scan.

If you think it's the first time then I would see (or at least speak to a GP) and explain how far along you think you are and that 1) you have since taken the MAP and 2) you've had a smear test. Of course I don't want to worry you and babies can be hardy little things, but you're not supposed to do either of those things in pregnancy so they may want to check you over before your 12 week scan.

@ollymor did you get your dates from adding 2 weeks to the clear blue results like it tells you to?

If so that's your pregnancy date.

(They go from the first day of your last period when pregnant this is why)

Or the date on the test is the conception I believe.

Eg. By clear blue in June it said 2-3 weeks but I was 5 weeks.

Hope this helps
