10 days late, short period, negative tests?

Please help me out, I feel like I’m going insane with symptoms ;;

I was due on my period on the 4th of September but it didn’t come. Took a test, negative. I was 10 days late and took another test negative. On day 10 I started a pink discharge, which turned to very light, bright red bleed for only 2 days. Confused is an understatement because I usually bleed heavy. I’ve had sore boobs, tired, clear discharge from left boob, twinges, and nausea which I have been sick a few times.

I took a test this morning (just a tescos one.) which is 4 days after the short period and it came back negative. If I was pregnant I would be 6 weeks? But is it possible or is it just in my mind?

I would wait and see! Have you been ttc?

Daisynner · 19/09/2018 08:00

Me and my partner haven’t been ttc, but we had a condom breakage on the 15th of August about same as ovulation should of occurred 🙈

I have a 3 year old lb from my previous relationship and my only symptom was tiredness of which I got a + on the day of my missed period so its all new and confusing for me

It might be that you had an anovulatory cycle (which is very normal - most people have one or two a year). It's unlikely that you're 6 weeks pregnant with negative tests.

Thank you though I would if thoight if it was anovulatiry I wouldn’t of had the two days of a very short light period.

My boobs have been so painful today, I’ve got a doctors appointment tomorrow so hopefully they can give some light lol

It's very normal to have a 'strange' period-like bleed with an anovulatory cycle - brown blood only, or lighter than normal are typical.

I wouldn't get your hopes up that the gp will do much... but who knows?!

Oh I didn’t realise, that’s interesting to know. Would a anovulatory also cause pregnancy like symptoms like sore boobs, nauseous feeling and being sick, as well as boob leakage? I just really want to know, it’s driving me insane :(

I went to the doctors this morning and they are doing a blood test so I’ll get that result on Monday/Tuesday next week

What are they testing for?? With the leaking boobs, I'm thinking your prolactin might be high and is definitely NOT an early pregnancy symptom. Have you breastfed in the last year? That can also cause the breast leakage.

No an anovulatory cycle will not cause nausea or sore boobs. (as you haven't ovulated in an anovulatory cycle and thus your progesterone would not be changing.

Generally speaking, pregnant enough for symptoms is pregnant enough for a positive...

I believe that the blood test is to count the hcg in my blood to make sure because I am having pregnancy symptoms and I agree with you that if I’m having these symptoms then I should get a positive result which I’d what is both annoying but confusing for me.

And no, my son is 3 and I breastfed him for one day before swapping him onto powder because my milk didn’t come through which hurt me because I would of loved to breast-fed him. I was induced because I had OC and the HV told me that could be the reason the milk never came ^^
