Scan at 6weeks because of pain?

Hi all,

I went to see my GP yesterday because I just found out I'm pregnant and been having a lot of period-like cramps, some of which are right-sided.

My GP booked me in for a scan next Monday, which I was surprised by (I thought he'd reassure me it was normal!)

He did mention the rare possibility of an ectopic, but said it was to be safe and that everything is probably okay.

I was just wondering if anyone had anything like this and things turned out okay?

Thank you!

Hi! I had a scan at 6+2 for exactly this reason, all pain was located on one side and after a bit of bleeding and previous miscarriages the doctors thought it best I have a scan.

I am now 19 weeks along with a healthy little baby kicking away there.

Just be aware that the scan may be both external and internal, and as it's quite early on and dates aren't always accurate there may not be a lot to see. Sonographer will advise you throughout.

Good luck, hope all goes ok!
