Moles in pregnancy

Hi, I went to the doctors today as two small moles on my back that use to be flat have suddenly raised up. Doc said one of them is fine but the lower one has gone darker and he said as a precaution he has referred me to the skin cancer clinic at the hospital so they can do a proper check on it. He has said to me not to panic and that it’s just for precaution, he said I will get a letter through post with appt but they may ring me sooner as I’m pregnant. I’m a little worried but trying not to panic about it until had a proper check. Has anyone else had this happen with moles?

It’s really really common for moles to change in pregnancy. Your doctor is right to refer you but it’s almost certainly nothing to worry about.

I actually started to grow a new mole about 7 weeks of pregnancy! I was referred to skin cancer clinic - supposedly it is quite common for new moles to appear and for moles to change in pregnany.

When I was seen the dr said it was still in early stages and so warned me it was likely to grow bigger, raised and darker. He is seeing me again in a few weeks just to review things and make sure all is as expected. But I'm reassured and I don't think you should be worried unless told otherwise Smile
