I wore a crop top style bra in the birthing pool then when I got out I wore a nighty as that's what DH could find in my bag.

HeyMicky · 18/09/2018 18:35

Vest top with built in bra both times. Makes it easy for skin to skin after as well

HidCat · 18/09/2018 18:43

Pyjamas, labour was fast and middle of the night so didn't have time to think about changing once I got to the hospital! I did have to change my bottoms before I left the house due to waters breaking though.

captainshortie · 18/09/2018 19:48

Ive been told to wear like a stringy vest top, but that youll not care when youre actually in labour haha!
I have a feeling ill not want anything touching me though so ill want to be nood, but my mam (who will be with me aswell as OH) has veetoed it saying id feel too exposed.....
Dont know how a pair of boobs will make me feel more exposed than being legs akimbo like Grin

BikeRunSki · 18/09/2018 19:49

A surgical gown and a canula

I had planned to wear a tankini top in the birthing pool.

SoyDora · 18/09/2018 19:50

Can’t remember 🤷🏻‍♀️. DC are 4 and 3. I think probably just a vest top.

PhilomenaButterfly · 18/09/2018 19:52

T-shirt and jeans, then stripped off for the pool.

discopisco · 18/09/2018 19:53

A tshirt to begin with but I got asked to change into a hospital gown midway just in case I needed an epidural (I did!).

Onlyhappywhenitrains1 · 18/09/2018 19:53

Long nighty. Not sure I would have been comfortable with my whole bottom half exposed. There was alot of people in there.

More2Fly · 18/09/2018 19:54

Black nightie

  • black to hide the mess
  • nightie to be accessible!
KathyBates · 18/09/2018 19:57

I had a cheap long nighty with buttons from primark for labour. When I got in the pool I was so out of it on gas and air and desperate for the baby to come out I just stripped off naked. Didn't even think about putting clothes on afterwards for about 5 hours Confused

Bees1 · 18/09/2018 20:02

Turned up expecting (naively!🙄) expecting to have a water birth so hadn’t brought a night dress etc with me. Ended up wearing a hospital gown! If I was going to do it all again I think I’d buy a pretty gownie to have as my birthing attire!

Slumberparty · 18/09/2018 20:13

I asked for a hospital gown as I didn't want to ruin the nightie I'd bought. Turned out to be a good decision as I needed an epidural then emergency c-section!

Verbena87 · 18/09/2018 20:18

Nothing (it was the end of last summer and I was overdue and SO HOT! Husband draped a cold wet muslin over me which was heaven), then hospital gown because I had to go to theatre for actual delivery (stuck baby, all fine thanks to fab doctor and midwives).

What I did get were a couple of black Primark nighties, one button front for easy feeding and the other a strappy one that was easy to pull down at the top to feed. Was fab having nighties not PJs as I ended up with a catheter for a bit after delivery, and it’s boiling in postnatal wards. Plus black doesn’t show any maternity pad leaks so you can go for a walk or a wee relatively unworried!

Hospital gown

villamariavintrapp · 19/09/2018 00:32

Nothing

StarfishSandwich · 19/09/2018 04:15

Early labour at home - alternated between kickers and a tshirt and nothing at all.

Transfer into hospital (booked homebirth) - Tshirt, knickers and pj bottoms.

Once at hospital - Briefly wore knickers and tshirt again whilst I had a (very brief, pethadine induced) rest. Once I got into the pool I was naked again and refused to put any clothes on until right before they put a gown on me and I was transferred to theatre, many hours later. This did mean waddling along the corridor from the birthing unit to a delivery suite room wrapped in just a sheet.

... I’m a midwife and delivered at my place of work. Many, many of my colleagues have seen me naked 😳 😂
