Contractions since 21:30 last night. When to expect baby?

As the title says I’ve been getting contractions every 20 minutes lasting 20-45 seconds since 21:30 last night.

Until they’re 5 minutes apart and lasting a minute I just have to ride them out.

Does anyone have any experience of this? If so when did baby arrive?

Vacuuming got things going more than once for me op!
Exciting!!

Go for a walk and keep moving! It could take a while but gravity will help. Good luck, I'm very jealous I've got at least 3 weeks to go!

ButAIBUtho · 18/09/2018 16:20

I was in slow labour for 3 days before the real thing.

You could be a while I'm afraid.

ThorsMistress · 18/09/2018 16:26

I’m not sleeping properly due to the pain every 20 minutes so the thought of this happening for days is not good Sad although babies due Sunday so could be on time!

Get walking, do some housework /vaccuuming as pp said, if you've got a ball get bouncing. Unfortunately - there's not much you can do in terms of speeding up the labour really except the old wives tales as above? Just try and keep yourself busy and relatively pain free with paracetemol every 4 hours etc, running warm bath.
Have you tried a TENS machine? See if your local pharmacy have any to loan. They're good for the early stages and some say for the later stages too - although I've not had the opportunity to test this out yet! Good luck!!x

On my first baby I had about 18 hours of this before they upped in intensity. Had about another 3 hours of more frequent ones at home before I headed for the hospital. Hope you are doing OK op. Baby will be here soon.

Move! Bounce on a birth ball, go for a long walk, get on a trampoline! Seriously, don't exhaust yourself but keep on the move.

M0reGinPlease · 18/09/2018 22:10

Also, just to give you some hope I had 48 hours of this with my first, then my waters went and 20 minutes later I had a baby, so you never know!

Just a little update.

Contractions started every 6 minutes so called labour ward. Realised I haven’t felt baby move so came to the hospital. After being hooked up contractions started to come every 3 minutes. She checked and I’m 3 cms dilated! So currently walking round a room in agony!

Ooh exciting update! I went to hospital with my 2nd baby at a similar stage at 9.30pm and she was born before midnight! Is baby here yet??
