Stupid question time - very early pregnancy, when should I see my GP?

This is my second, so I should know. Last time, in a fit of excitement and disbelief, I went to the GP as soon as knew. I had the impression that I'd been a bit quick off the mark, although she was very nice about it.

When should I go? I presume I have to get into the system at some point. I'm only 5 weeks, and stil don't really believe I am pg (no symptoms other than tiredness this time).

Wouldn't bother going to see GP, would contact the MW instead. They will probably then tell you when they would like to see you - MW at my practice like to see you at 8 wks.

You need to let them know you are pregnant and register with a mw. The mw will then tell you when to come back. Usually after your hospital check in and 12 week scan.

I went at about 9 weeks with both of mine - ie, when I had def missed 2 periods.

Where I live the GP has to refer you to the hospital/midwives.

I went when I was 4 weks (had just found out). They referred me to the MW and I had my booking appt about 8 weeks.

I'll go in a week or two then, all being well. The mw is attached to the GP's practice, so referral time isn't really an issue.

Thanks everyone.

Phone surgery and ask for a telephone consultation with your GP. They need to note it in your med notes but don't actually need to see you.

GP will let you know about contacting MW's.

My surgery says if you are pregnant make a midwife appt not with GP.
