Ever given birth in Belgium?

Hi Everyone,

I have been living in Brussels for a couple of years for work and have just discovered I am pregnant. For me this is terrifying as I always thought i would come back to uk and go for an elective c section before embarking on this journey, but plans never quite go to plan do they?

The Belgian doctors I have met so far are against elective c-section and have told me that birth really isn't that bad and it will be fine. This has led to a feeling of utter desperation on my part and I have been endlessly searching for private hospitals who do electives, but the only ones i can find are in the UK and would break me financially.

I have started to consider having an abortion, which makes me feel like a failure as a woman for being scared of giving birth to the extent that i would rather do this and potentially mess my very happy relationship up.

Has anyone been through this or something similar and managed to achieve an elective c-section in belgium? Or have successfully dealt with their fears?
