Sorry if I upset anyone but I'm feeling anxious. Most babies are born healthy aren't they? I'm worried something is going to go wrong Confused

Statistically yes and many of the babies not born healthy can be treated

CrabbyPatty · 15/09/2018 20:31

Short answer is yes. Health is on a spectrum though. Don't assume the worst.

I'm 32 does that increase my risk?

32 is young OP. You'll have a NT measurement at 12 week scan plus a blood test, which can tell you the likelihood of your baby having a trisonomy disorder e.g. Down's syndrome. The chances of this increase slightly as the mother ages. Apart from that, I don't know of any mother's-age-related disorders in babies.

It might be worth mentioning your anxiety to your midwife at your next check up. The vast majority of babies are born without any issue, so please try not to worry. And as a pp says, many issues are treatable these days, if there is anything amiss.

SnuggyBuggy · 15/09/2018 21:11

Is there anything in particular you are concerned about?

BigfluffybearBum · 15/09/2018 21:35

it's been 13 years since I had a baby! My Dp is a 1st time dad. It just feels like starting again
