Have I lost my mucus plug?

So today after going to the toilet I noticed a really thick bit of discharge, almost like snot, in my my underwear. I’ve never had discharge like this before and I’m worried this could be part of my mucus plug. It looks and sounds exactly like the photos and descriptions I’ve seen other women share. I’m only 26 weeks, what do I do? Do I just wait and see if I get anymore or do I call up? I don’t want to call over every little concern

I think it's best to just get checked by a midwife if you suspect it might be with it being so early. It will put your mind at ease and make sure you and baby are safe xx

I would call your MW seeing as you’re only 26w to be on the safe side. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about though - I lost my plug in one go at term and there was no mistaking it, so it sounds like it could just be a small bit that’s come away. Apparently it can come away and grow back again.

I used to get that every few weeks with my first. My actual mucus plug was quite different, there was a lot more and I mean a LOT, and it had blood in it. It will probably just be a bit of it and regenerate. Strangely I've not had anything this pregnancy yet and nearly 30 weeks now!

Increased discharge is a normal symptom especially in the 3rd trimester. I have been tested for thrush twice in this pregnancy because of it, although not itchy or uncomfortable at all. It wasn’t thrush it was deemed to be normal discharge. So OP what you’re experiencing may be that ie totally normal.
