Early pregnancy - Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m nearly 6w pregnant from my estimation and about 5 days ago i came home from my 10hr shift at work and laid down on my sofa to rest.
I started to experienced some mild cramping that didn’t last for long and wasn’t extremely painful of anything, I sat up after a couple of minutes just to grab something to eat and felt a gush of blood.
I ran to the toilet and wiped a load of red blood away (gross I know, I’m sorry) but there wasn’t any clots and the cramping and blood stopped within 10 minutes..
I did carry on light bleeding pinkish blood for a couple of days after but that’s it.
5 days after that and I still feel pregnant, still getting pregnancy symptoms and still showing a positive pregnancy test, so I’m hoping nothings wrong but just needing some reassurance or some idea of what this could be..
Can anyone help?
Has anyone else experienced this?

This sounds very similar to my miscarriage at 7 weeks. I'd definitely go to EPU to get a scan. Hope it's all alright.

pinksquares · 14/09/2018 19:04

I’d see your early pregnancy unit if you can, have give them a call.
This sounds very much like the start of my mmc.
Not wanting to give you false hope I did also have this with dd and she’s 5 now so again I would check with the EPU.
The only thing that was more obvious with the miscarriage was the blood was bright red and not pink or brown.

Dacresmallwilly · 14/09/2018 19:06

This happened to me on and off all the way through early pregnancy and all was fine. It's scary and it works out okay for some people and not others. Maybe phone your GP for advice if it starts again?

MrsHopity · 14/09/2018 19:08

Yes at 6 weeks, was convinced it was early stages of miscarriage, having had one before.

So very upset i went to bed with a pad on but was very light bleeding in the morning.

Rang my epu and they booked me in for a scan, where I saw the tiniest of heartbeats.

She is nearly 5 weeks old now.

Give your early pregnancy unit a call and good luck.

bellsbuss · 14/09/2018 19:13

I had this with 2 of my pregnancies, 1 up to 10 weeks and the other up to 20/21 weeks. Each time it was put down to unexplained bleeding. At 17 weeks there was lots and I ended up in hospital over night, it stopped then had brown blood for about 3 more days. Was petrified but he's now 2 and trashing my house

Katinkak8 · 14/09/2018 19:14

This also happened to me at around 8 weeks. I ended up in A and E and eventually had an early scan 2 days later. Luckily everything was ok and I'm now 18 weeks. You should definitely go and get checked out. Hope all is ok.

Kintan · 14/09/2018 20:03

Agree - you need to get checked out. I had this in my first pregnancy and everything was fine, and again in my second, and sadly that ended in a miscarriage at 9 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed all is ok for you.

CobaltRose · 14/09/2018 20:08

I've had this with both of my pregnancies.

Unfortunately in the first case I ended up miscarrying (though it wasn't discovered until I was 12 weeks so was considered a missed miscarriage, as baby had stopped developing at 6 weeks).

However, I also had this at around 8 weeks with my current pregnancy. I panicked, thinking history was repeating itself, but a scan showed a healthy baby wriggling away! I'm now 15 weeks and baby is perfect.

I certainly hope my second story is the case for you. Give your EPU a ring. Good luck, I have everything crossed for you!

Nss95 · 15/09/2018 16:56

Thankyou everyone, my pregnancy symptoms are still persistent, feeling sick daily so I’m hoping for the best right now. Going to visit the gp in a couple of days and see what the problem is. Just wanted to know I wasn’t alone.

OP I'd get referred to EPU as soon as possible. It's great that you're still feeling pregnant but I vividly remember a poster who experienced something similar. She posted a warning to others as she assumed all was well due to her sickness and other symptoms continuing. Unfortunately it wasn't as she discovered at her 12 week scan and she had to undergo treatment as she had experienced a mmc around 4 weeks ago.

I don't want to scare you as obviously it is equally as possible that you are still pregnant and baby is absolutely fine. However, you need to be checked out either way. Don't take your symptoms as a sign that all is well, though I hope for you it is Thanks

Gobletoffire · 15/09/2018 21:24

I wouldn’t wait until your GP can see you, all they will do is refer you. I would call your EPU as soon as you can so they scan do a scan and some checks. Hope all is ok. X

Nss95 · 16/09/2018 09:36

I will 100% get in touch with them as soon as possible. I still feel sooo pregnant so I’m hoping that’s a good sign... I’m hoping my brain and feelings aren’t just messing with me. I’m spotting now, Brown & pink so I’m hoping that might be a good sign... my breasts are hurting more daily and I’m feeling very nauseous... so FINGERS CROSSED! I really don’t want to loose this. I’ve had a miscarriage in the past and lost my symptoms the next day so I really hope what happened a week ago was nothing to worry about!

Nss95 unfortunately people often continue to feel pregnant and get positive test results when experiencing mmc and after miscarriage. The fact that you still feel pregnant is meaningless. The only way to know is to get scanned. Please get checked out because if something has gone wrong and you leave it you and/or any baby may not get the care you need. I hope it's good news for you Flowers

Wolfiefan · 16/09/2018 09:43

Don’t bother with GP. You need a scan. Feeling pg or not isn’t a sign of whether you have had a mc or not. (Personal experience speaking.) You must get checked out.
Laura I’m not sure I understand. You may feel sick in pregnancy. You shouldn’t be eating lots more than usual.

3luckystars · 16/09/2018 09:46

You need to speak to a doctor or midwife or the Early Pregnany Unit.

You will need a blood test and another one in a few days to see if your numbers are doubling.
You really need a scan. Best wishes.

ApplestheHare · 16/09/2018 09:48

Wolfiefan I think some people end up eating loads more to stem the nausea. Eating is the only time I feel ok atm!

Wolfiefan · 16/09/2018 09:52

Apples the comment wasn’t about stemming nausea but not feeling full up.

Gobletoffire · 16/09/2018 09:57

OP I don’t mean to worry you but I wouldn’t consider the brown and pink spotting as being a good sign... not if all this started with a gush of red blood. As the PPs have said you need to be seen, call your EPU today. All your GP will do is refer you there anyway. Your symptoms don’t necessarily mean your pregnancy is still progressing unfortunately, you need the proper checks. Good luck and I hope that all is ok xx

ApplestheHare · 16/09/2018 10:00

Wolfiefan I know, but with some people the nausea makes it feel like you're never full. Literally the only time you feel ok is while eating. I've had this with a couple of pregnancies but funnily enough had another one where I was never nauseaus or hungry. I think each one is different for everyone.

MsHopey · 16/09/2018 10:03

Get to EPU.
All bleeding should be monitored anyway as a big loss of red blood is normally bad news for pregnancy. Even if everything turns out fine it's better to know for sure that baby is healthy in there.

Laura19994 · 16/09/2018 10:27

DannyWallace · 16/09/2018 10:50

OP as others have said please call EPU today.
Tests will likely still show positive either way. I so hope it's good news for you, but either way you need to know.
A GP can not confirm if your pregnancy is ongoing. You need a scan. Please call them x

@Laura19994 you may get more replies if you start a new thread x

NewNameDueToMyIdiocy · 16/09/2018 11:01

@Laura19994 that's morning sickness/pregnancy nausea. It's a perfectly normal part of pregnancy.

OP - I really hope you get seen at an EPU ASAP and everything is OK. Symptoms continuing doesn't really mean anything unfortunately. But I hope in your case it is a good sign. Good luck!
