20 week scan feet problem

I have just had my 20 week scan and everything was ok apart from they picked up a problem with the baby's feet. I have to go see a consultant next week but I am worried and upset over it.

The letter says abnormal alignment at the ankle joints suggesting Talipes which means Club Foot. They did say that this can be corrected but I am getting myself worked up over it.

Has anybody else had this and have their children had it corrected?

I haven't had this but it is something that usually can be very well corrected. There has been a lot of progress in how to best correct club foot, and if there are no other issues it will be treated conservatively with braces etc. rather than operations. I only have experience in low income countries alongside my diffèrent work, but do know it's something that usually has a good outcome. I'm sure other people will have more useful info for you.

A friend in works son had this. He had a special brace for a while and now he's 4 and you'd never know. Preparation is key with these things so it's good that they picked it up. My friend didn't know until after he was born. The shock and worry straight after birth was worse then the club foot.

My DS 15 had bilateral talipes. It was treated conservatively using plaster casts and very slow and gentle adjustments. It really wasn't anywhere near as stressful as I was worried it would be honestly. The only thing about it was the smelly baby feet when the plasters came off but a bath sorted that!!
