Good morning, was wondering if anyone else has experienced severe morning sickness? I started during week 7 and am now coming to the end of the 14th week and it isn't subsiding :-( In fact it's getting worse!

Any advice??

Hi there, sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I had HG during my pregnancy from around week 6, vomiting up to 20 times a day and unable to move much because if I did I would vomit. It was awful and I got really depressed to the point where even though it was a planned pregnancy, I kept having thoughts about termination. So I really feel for you, it was one of the darkest periods of my life so far, for me and DH.

The only medication that really worked for to reduce the frequency of my vomiting was ondansetron. Have you seen your GP? That would be the starting point. It is likely that it will start to improve soon if it hasn't already - I started to see significant improvements from about week 14 and went back to work part-time at about week 18 and it just got better and better. I went on holiday around week 24 I think so I was miles better by then barring a few small triggers like travel, strong smells, teeth brushing etc but otherwise alright and usually able to eat and drink fine by then. It does vary for everyone but for most people it starts to get much better very soon [flower].

Thank you so much MeadowHay, yesterday was a particularly bad day I cried all day! I have an appointment with the GP so fingers crossed they will be able to sort something.
At least there is an end in sight :-)

You poor thing, I know you feel, it is really awful Sad but it does pass and for most people it starts to get better around this time in your pregnancy. I have my fingers crossed for you and the GP should be able to help you try some medication, there are a few different types, they usually try cyclizine first which does work for some people but didn't for me so you may need to persevere til you find something that works. "This too shall pass" really became my pregnancy mantra and into the post-partum period too tbh, I had a horrible pregnancy, a horrible birth, a horrible time breastfeeding and my baby suffered badly from gastro issues until we got her on regular Infacol, but now she's 12 weeks and I'm still sore, still tired and floundering about and she still cries a fair bit compared to other babies BUT she is beautiful and was worth all of the grim times, and you will feel the same one day when your baby is here Flowers.

I was so sick with this pregnancy. I was taking antisickness tablets (i think they were valled cyclozine or something) and taking max dose just to allow me to sit at my desk and work. It lightened up to nausea around week 14 and then stopped all together around week 16. Im now 36 weeks and have had nausea again this past week but due to acid reflux. Im sure youve tried everything but i lived off gingernut biscuits. Swore by eating something before getting out of bed in the morning just to line my stomach. And no one told me this but dont bother to stick to general 'meal rules'. If i wanted cerial for dinner, thats what i had. Likewise, all i wanted for brekkie one day was nachos. Eat what you want, when you want (within reason, obvs) and dont worry about 3am toast covered in nutella. Just make sure youre eating when you feel like it. And when you dont feel like it and you just cant face it, lie down and feel sorry for yourself. Sometimes you have to.
Ring your gp and try and get some antisickness meds. And i really hope it stops soon for you... its the worst.. but it does get better! Good luck

Also, you should head over to this chat - its really helped me lots of people who know what you are going through
