Is today’s test lighter? 2nd pair of eyes please

So I know I’m not doing myself any favours by testing again (& so much!) but after a year of trying & finally getting BFP at 10 dpo on Tuesday, I don’t think I can still believe it’s happening.

First pic is tests between Tuesday-Thursday (inc) where you can see the line getting darker. I then tested just over an hour ago this morning at 13 dpo & im a bit worried it’s lighter than yesterdays.

Just so scared of a chemical!

Thank you.

Please don't do this to yourself. Line strength is no indicator of how viable your conception is once the line is as visible as yours. I know it's hard but try and leave it a week otherwise you will drive yourself nuts. From 4 to 12 weeks is the longest most stressful time ever and you need to get a grip from the start otherwise you will literally crack!! Congrats on you bfp by the way, I really hope everything goes smoothly for you .

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/09/2018 06:06

Desmondo2016 Thanks for your reply. Your so right, I just think having convinced myself it would never happen for me it’s just a way of reassuring myself. I really do need to chill out, just want it so much ! I will step away from the tests!

Congratulations on your bfp and as pp said please step away from the tests. They're no accurate indicator of how a pregnancy is progressingFlowers

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/09/2018 06:26

ApplestheHare Thank you. I will do, can’t wait to get into work now to get distracted Grin

I posted a message on here for the exact same thing and thankfully people told me to get a grip!

If you're using different tests that will make a difference, as will the concentration of the wee! Urine tests only tell you you are pregnant and not how far you are gone.

I'm 12 weeks now (still having sickness at times) and you'll honestly just wish you didn't worry at this point and just enjoy the period before pregnancy symptoms really hit.

Bear in mind at 14dpo some people are not even getting a positive yet, so please don't worry. The only way to check progress is with bloods and even they can show levels that aren't progressing quick enough, but the pregnancy is still viable.

Congrats, and just try to enjoy this time and have a nice meal out to celebrate before the sickness kicks in!

Totally agree with PP - step away from the tests! I can totally understand the nerves but test lines vary for all sorts of reasons and they are designed to be used once to confirm pregnancy, not multiple times and used as comparisons.
Early pregnancy is stressful, try and keep yourself distracted and busy! And maybe think about booking an early scan at around eight weeks to help break up the slog to the 12 week scan (I did this at 9 weeks in my first pregnancy due to extreme worry (previous miscarriage)) and it definitely helped!

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/09/2018 07:28

Thanks so much ladies, you have really reassured me.

I think once I get past this weekend (which is when AF would be due), I will definitely start to relax.

MyMumDimensionJumps - congrats on your pregnancy Smile

Oh bless you. It's so stressful isn't it! I totally get it and did it myself, wasted so much money on tests. My lines got slowly darker, but, there were a few days when the line would be lighter again and I would drive myself crazy with worry and spend ages holding them all up and scrutinising them all. It was hell and really didn't do me any good at all. However all was well and I'm having a little boy in December! Even though I definitely did have a few tests along the way in the early days that were a bit lighter than previous days. If possible, try and stop testing and driving yourself crazy. But I do totally get how hard it is! Good luck and all the best with your pregnancy x

That’s so lovely to hear about your little boy Athens, what a Christmas present!

Thanks so much Grin

@Mike can I suggest you pay privately to get your hcg measured. I am a fellow poas addict and had a miscarriage in April. I tested like crazy. Lines went darker then suddenly light and I had an mc so I felt this was a good predictor (but was wrong as you will see if you read on)

I am currently 4.5 weeks and this time around I got hcg levels tested at 3weeks and 6 days and 4 weeks and 2 days. They quadrupled in that time. However, What is interesting is that on the day they went up I did a Superdrug test (because I am an addict) and there was a barely visible line there. Did another one of the same brand and same thing, barely visible line. The same day my levels were confirmed to be 651! So moral of the story is that these tests really are not a good indicator of a viable pregnancy or your hcg levels. Sometimes I lighter line correlates with an MC sometimes it doesn’t. Save your sanity and get a proper test done! It’s about £50 and that probably works out the same price as all the tests you are no doubt purchasing. I really do hope it goes well for you and wish you all the best. The anxiety is awful and totally emphathise.

aburrow93 · 14/09/2018 18:11

Would your gp be able to do a blood test to confirm? (I'm not exactly sure if it shows in blood this early) but if you explain to them you are quite anxious this may help? I took one test and that's it. The only symptoms I had were missed period, enlarged boobs, tiredness and bloated..nothing else until after I was 12 weeks I was terrified there would be nothing there on my 12 week scan. I think so many people go through the same worries tho.... just try to relax as being so stressed won't be good for you. Best of luck

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/09/2018 18:25

Eleosto - thanks for that suggestion I wasn’t aware that was something that I could have done. Definitely something to consider but have a pretty busy weekend so hopefully that’ll take my mind off it!

aburrow93 - wow I wish I had your willpower - that’s amazing Grin I’m going to get the weekend out of the way (which is when AF would be due) so if I get past that & nothing happens I’ll be so much more relaxed !

Thanks for your advice both Smile

I had a MC a while ago and when I got pregnant again I took a total of 19 tests. Yes. 19. All FRER's. I don't even want to do the math to work out how much money that is! I was analysing every line trying to work out if it was lighter or not. To be honest some were slightly lighter then others and some were darker in the evenings than the morning ones. Basically it meant nothing at all as I am now 24 weeks pregnant. I am no one to talk but try to relax because it means nothing. At the end of the day what will be will be and stressing doesn't change anything. I know it's massively easier said than done but hopefully these posts will reassure you that line strength means nothing!

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/09/2018 19:10

SophieStripe - oh my god that’s a LOT 🙈😂 i only have 1 left & might get my OH to hide it anyway.

Thanks for sharing your experience though & congrats on your pregnancy.

Yeah all the posts have been massively reassuring, I’m a first timer with all of this so got lots to learn !

I have had the exact same thing this week with positive tests and some not being as dark as I thought they should be, and I’m also due on tomorrow so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for us both 😀

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/09/2018 19:45

Me too 🙏🏽 We just need to stay positive Smile

How’s the weekend gone for you mikewazowskismrs??
I hope everything is ok

Dreamydaisy · 17/09/2018 09:32

Hi,

I'm in a similar situation. In april I had a miscarriage after my lines never darkened.
This pregnancy I got a clear blue that said pregnant or not as I am scared of not having a dark line. I'll be worried until I get past the date of my miscarriage in april and until I have my 12 week scan I think I'll always worry.

Fingers crossed for us all x
