Evening all ☺ I've just found out in pregnant, I had a mmc April 2017 and just wondered what they likelihood is that lightening could strike twice?

I'm nervous and quite anxious.

Congratulations!

I think the miscarriage association says you have about a 20% chance of another miscarriage after having had one... so quite similar to the chance of miscarriage after any pregnancy.

Are you thinking about getting an early scan? Sometimes people find that reassuring after mmc...

Hi!

From what my midwife told me, your chance of miscarriage after having one is about the same as it would be if you hadn't had one. So, about 20%.

I suffered a missed miscarriage in April and am now 15 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby, so there's absolutely no reason why this pregnancy won't be successful Smile Congrats!

Oh, and I had early scans, which I found very reassuring.

I had DD after a MMC. I would also suggest an early scan, my EPU offered them at 9 weeks for pregnancy after MMC. It was a massive relief to see her heartbeat at 9 weeks, especially after how horrible my first experience of an ultrasound was. It was also separate from the main ultrasound department, so felt more private if I’d had more bad news.
No increased risk after 1 miscarriage though but you will no doubt be very worried. It is stressful!

Thanks so much for all the replies. ☺☺ I'm trying really hard to not let anxiety get the best of me, as what will be will be but it's the limbo time! As I'm sure you all understand.

I think I will get an early scan anyway as my last period was mid July but I know that's not a true reflection as my periods have been all over. So they have me at about 8 weeks but I know I'm more like 4.

It's the scan that'll scare me I think and I don't think the anxiety will subside until 20 weeks. I saw a HB last time and assumed all was well but 3 weeks later the HB had stopped ☹. Also with early scans you have that transition where sometimes they only see a sac and no foetus arghhhhh. This will definitely be my last pregnancy either way so I'm trying to enjoy and embrace.
