Hi,

I was just wondering if here are any superstitions etc I need to have in mind. I know I won't have the pram in the house until little one is here...but what about car seat, moses basket, clothes etc?

Thank you very much xx

Why would you actively be looking for daft stuff to do to make your life harder?

Keep anything you want in the house. Those superstitions date from the days when childbirth was a much riskier business and medicine was primitive. When people don't know how to control things they make up superstitions.

Where are you going to put everything if you don't put it in the house? Confused

Sandstormbrewing · 13/09/2018 18:19

What are you going to do if you have a second child? Stop using the pram when you get pregnant so it can live elsewhere Grin.

There are no superstitions and don't let anyone tell you differently!

Emmafh3 · 13/09/2018 20:31

I've heard it's bad luck to talk about bad luck and the only way to get rid of it is to stay in a handstand and talk backwards all day while only blinking in sets of three.

Buy what you want when you want and keep it wherever the hell it fits. There ain't no bad juju from being prepared.

SingingSands · 13/09/2018 20:48

Be logical. What difference does not having a pram in the house make to anything?!

Where will you keep it instead?

Nonsense.

SoyDora · 13/09/2018 21:22

I hate these ‘superstitions’. Saying that something like having a pram in the house is ‘bad luck’ or ‘jinxing’ things is pretty offensive to all those who have suffered losses. Was it their fault because they told their family before 12 weeks? Or because they bought their pram at 20 weeks and kept it in the house? It’s bullshit. Why would you go looking for them?

Girlwiththearabstrap · 13/09/2018 21:43

Don't go looking for things to stress about or get superstitious about. Keeping a pram in the house obviously doesn't cause anything to happen otherwise how on earth would anyone have a subsequent child?! Would they just have to stop using all the baby equipment?
Enjoy your pregnancy and enjoy shopping for your baby and storing the stuff wherever and however you like.
