Post sex bleeding

I'm 7+2 today and have been ok up until today. I've had no spotting or bleeding.

Last night me and my boyfriend had sex and today I'm bleeding. It's red. I went to the hospital and they referred me to EPU. I have a scan at 11.30 tomorrow. I have no cramping.

I'm hoping it's just a sensitive cervix but I am sh**g myself. It's my first pregnancy. I didn't realise how much anxiety it would bring with it.

Any advice or anyone experienced this? Should it be red blood if the cervix is irritated?

Hi OP, congratulations. The exact same happened to me at 13 weeks. We'd had sex in the AM and when I went to the loo later that day I had bright red fresh blood. I got all upset thinking it was all over, but a scan the next day showed baby was absolutely fine, and the midwives and sonographer assured me that bleeding soon after sex is very very normal. They genuinely seemed totally unconcerned by it, which reassured me. It's an awful feeling at the time but I had a trouble free pregnancy otherwise! Good luck tomorrow, please update if you can x

We had bleeding after sex in early pregnancy (about 10 weeks in) and panicked and had a scan too, but everything was completely fine. I was reassured that it's due to a more sensitive cervix and increased blood flow. I was also told that sex and orgasms CANNOT cause a miscarriage, so if there are any problems, it will not be because you had sex.

I hope we're reassured you, let us know how it goes OP x

Thanks guys. Just to update I had a scan and there were two small pools of blood. The top one was mottled which means it coagulating. I might have a bit more bleeding from the lower one. She said it's very common and may even be left over from implantation. But I'm glad I went as it wasn't my cervix after all.
