How early can a blood test detect pregnancy?

No earlier than a decent pregnancy test.

A healthy, non-pregnant woman has hcg levels of between 1 and 5 naturally occurring. A first response test has a sensitivity of 6 (for comparison clear blue have sensitivity of 25 or 50, depending on which test it is).

How long after conception?

OP posts:
Stephisaur · 11/09/2018 15:41

@JadeLucie24 about 2 weeks

kmreeve · 11/09/2018 15:42

I tested positive by urine test at 9 day after I ovulated

Sandstormbrewing · 11/09/2018 15:43

@JadeLucie24 depends. HCG isn't made until after implantation, which can happen 6 - 12 days from conception. So you could test positive as early as 7 days post ovulation or as late as 2 weeks, sometimes more.

So if the blood test was 24 days after conception it would show?

@jadelucie I hear blood test is quicker because hcg takes longer to get into your urine. I just had a blood test to confirm pregnancy but had already had positive pregnancy test. However 24 hours after conception would be too soon as the embryo won’t have implanted yet and you only get hcg after implantation.

SophieStripe · 11/09/2018 20:41

24 DAYS after conception it would absolutely show

Eleosto · 11/09/2018 21:14

Sorry just realised you said 24 days not hours! I am soooo tired right now! Agree 24 days would deffo show! Good luck :-)

Sandstormbrewing · 12/09/2018 14:15

24 days it would show. But a pregnancy test isn't done as standard when they do blood tests.

@samdstorm I know I had a blood pregnancy test!
