Am I 4 or 8 weeks?

This is my first pregnancy and I am very confused as to how far along I am, my GP and midwife appointments (and first scan) have all been booked on the basis of me being 4-5 weeks now, but I'm worried that might be wrong?

So last week I took 4 pregnancy tests all of which were immediately (literally immediately) very dark positives (Even before my period was expected to start, although my cycles are pretty irregular). I also took a digital weeks indicator which came up with 3+, as I have long cycles usually (33+ days) is it possible I just ovulated early?

The other reasons I'm unsure is because (1) my last period was incredibly light (although lasted 5 days) and there was no pain (Which has never happened to me before), and was pink/brown. (2) my pregnancy symptoms hit me like an absolute bus last week, which I keep reading doesn't usually happen until 6-8 weeks? I can barely get out of bed I'm so tired, my nausea is horrendous, I can smell everything, my boobs have become torture devices.

On the other hand, the bleeding of my last 'period' did last about 5 days, which is why I assumed it couldn't be implantation bleeding. I also did one digital pregnancy test earlier this cycle (on day 15) because of my confusion after the odd period, which was negative.

Did anyone else get incredibly strong symptoms this early? Am I worrying over nothing, or should I maybe get a private scan to check?

My nausea literally hit me the day my period was due. The smell and taste of tea was also unbearable. It was another 5 days before I tested because I just assumed that I wasn't feeling well!

I would say that 4-5 weeks makes more sense for you because you had that negative test mid cycle.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I def got symptoms before my period was late with 3 of my 4 pregnancies. Almost certainly with the other (First) one, but I didn’t really link it. Nausea, heartburn and excessive vaginal discharge.

Another one who got symptoms before knowing I was pregnant. The date goes from the date of your missed period btw, which is confusing when you'd already be 2 weeks by then, approx. I think I have that right.....

Ah thanks guys! I just kept reading NHS guidelines/books saying "these symptoms hit 90% of women at 6-8 weeks". I should probably stop worrying about every little thing.

Don't worry. Do bring it up at your 8 week booking in though, if you want a nuchal scan (to test for chromosomal abnormalities) I think you need to have it before 14 weeks so they should give you an early scan.
Congrats!

I have long and irregular cycles. I had a period on 28th Jan then a 2-day bleed on 8th March. I tested on 25th March, got 3+ and a strong cheapy positive, and turned out (as eventually established at my scan) to be just under 7 weeks when I got my BFP.

So you may have ovulated late. But you won't know until your scan - I gave them 28th Jan as my last period, not 8th March, so got a scan nice and early.

Oh and also... those weeks indicators only work accurately if there’s only one baby in there ;)

I had insane early symptoms and a test so dark on the first day of my missed period that it drew the dye away from the other line.

Am now sitting watching Shrek with my twins Grin

Thanks mississiplessly, that's a good idea to bring it up at the first appointment. I'll do that.

Hammeringinmyhead that was probably a much better approach! I just panicked in the moment and gave the most recent dates

Sinkgirl ahahaha Shock that's a slightly terrifying thought - guess I'll just wait for the scan!
