Dates - 12 week scan

My baby was conceived on 13th July and I can be 100% sure of that because DH works away. I don't know when the last day of my last period was.

I have my booking appointment next Wednesday and by counting from 13th July I worked out that I would be 9 weeks and 5 days pregnant.

I read on a thread last night that you are considered 2 weeks pregnant on the date of conception because that backdated to the last day of your missed period, which is that last day you definitely weren't pregnant.

So that means I will be 11 weeks and 5 days pregnant when I see the midwife and I'm worried about the 12 week scan. I haven't had a letter yet about having it and can't remember how far in advance it came with my first baby. Will the hospital not be notified that I need a scan until I've had my booking appointment? I'm worried that if this is the case the turnaround time won't be quick enough to have it done at 12 weeks and I've read that there are some checks they can't do after 12 weeks.

I've left a message with the midwife to discuss but they are always slow responding so I was wondering if anyone on here has any thoughts?

Feeling pretty stupid as this is baby no 2!

The 12 week scan can be done up to 14 weeks.

Once you have your booking in appointment you'll get a scan date fairly quickly. I will be 13+4 when I get mine.

I got my scan appointment date through before I had my booking appointment

Thanks all, just heard back from midwife.

She also says the Down's syndrome test etc can be done up until 13+5 and that the hospital will make sure there is an appointment somehow.

During my last pregnancy, my midwife called the unit at the booking appointment and booked me in for the dating scan there and then. Lots of luck xxx

I had my 12 week at 13 weeks too.
And I'd like to add, because it frustrates the hell out of me when people are 100% on dates, that although you may know when you had sex you have no idea for sure when you actually conceived how long the egg stayed in your tubes or when the egg implanted which all affects the days :)

I had my 12 week scan at what turned out to be 13+6, they were able to do the NT test.

You should be fine at that gestation Smile you could be a few days fewer than you're expecting though as even if you know when you did the deed, it can take up to 10 days for implantation and whatnot.

Either way, they should still be able to do all of the relevant tests if you're the exact gestation you're expecting. Good luck Smile

Thanks everyone- yes you're quite right, it could have been days after, hadn't thought of that.
