Can partner have paternity leave if I'm not working

Hello
I was just wondering if my partner could have paternity leave for a year.

I own a company but am not working at the moment so could he still take paternity leave? He works for the NHS if that makes a difference.

Do you mean shared parental leave? If you meet the earnings criteria then probably.
Are you a limited company or sole trader?

@TangelasVine
It's a private limited company.
I won't be working so could he still take a year off?

Have a look at the link I send as it'll depend on you earning a minimum. Do you pay yourself a salary? If so it should be fine and best to speak to your accountant about it.
