Facial and now panicking

I just had a facial and told the woman doing it I'm 10 weeks pregnant.

I thought she'd therefore refrain from using essential oils but as she was doing it I could smell some were used.

Afterwards I saw a couple of the bottles used and after googling saw it had 'clary' (clary sage) in it! Which is not allowed during pregnancy.

I'm panicking now in case something bad happens to baby. I had a mc earlier this year so am extra nervous anyway 😖

Has anyone else experienced this and been ok? I have been furiously wiping my face with baby wipes to get all traces off!

I wouldn't worry, brodiee, it can stimulate blood flow to the uterus, so I think the recommendation to avoid is purely because it has not been tested.

There's nothing "not allowed" in pregnancy. It's all recommendations. There's a huge amount of varying research out there, and as the previous poster said... it's often because of the lack of research that things are discouraged.

Last night I actually started spotting 😖

I had a scan and harmony test booked this afternoon by coincidence. Luckily baby is ok. There is a dark area on my scan where the bleeding has come from. Not sure if it was the oils in the facial but seems a bit strange the bleeding should happen a few hours after when I've had no other bleeding in this pregnancy.

Shock Scary!! Have you told the early pregnancy unit? They should be able to give you a medical examination, which is different from private scan. I had 2 bleeds this pregnancy between 10 - 14 weeks and all is well (now 28 weeks) xx

Clary sage is meant to be avoided until something like 36 weeks pregnant. Not saying it would do something but it could and where you had the facial need to be made aware that they are using strong oils on people who shouldn't be near them! Hope all is well ❤️
