Acne getting worse

Has anybody else had acne during pregnancy??
I had mild acne after coming off the pill but the day I fell pregnant my acne spread across my cheeks and everywhere.
I’m now 12+4 weeks and I thought it would get better as I go into my 2nd trimester but it just seems to be getting worse, it’s spread all across my neck and chest.
I have huge 3D Pimples all over my face and it’s really knocking my confidence :(

Is there anything that could help? I know it’s hormonal so it’s hard to control from the outside. 😫

I used sudocreme on the nights and sometimes the day. Washed my face twice daily with mild soap. Never a scrub. Mine cleared up during the second trimester with just the odd one here or there. But I also never wore make-up and couldn't give a toss what people thought...
I know there have been a few threads like this and some people have had some special creams prescribed from their doctor and /or bought some acne stuff over the counter but I personally didn't want anything like that on my skin that could transfer to babe. Didn't even use store bought moisturiser! Never mind using anything on babe for weeks.... Perhaps I was just too cautious and it might work for you? If it's affecting your confidence it's definitely worth getting an appointment to discuss options

Hey lovely, I feel your pain.... I'm exactly the same! Expect I've got them really bad on my shoulders, chest and back.... my face luckily has missed the brunt of it, but I know how self conscious I feel too! 😩 it sucks!

I've been putting a thin layer of sudo cream before bed but it's not done much so far.... A lady on here the other day said about tablets that you can get from the doctors! Maybe see what they say?

I'm able to hide most of mine at the moment so it's not as bad, but it mustn't be nice to have them on your face if they are as bad as mine 😩🤦🏻‍♀️🤰🏻

Let me know if you find anything that works as I'd be interested too 😂 Just thought I'd post to let you know that your not alone... I know there's lots of us the same!! I'm just over 13 weeks and this is my first... Fingers crossed they clear for us both soon 😘🤰🏻

Thank you for your reply ladies I’m so glad I’m not alone!
I don’t think sudocream will work for me I have too many plus it’s not gonna stop new ones from popping up 😫 I need to control my hormones somehow?
I think I’m going to give it a couple more weeks if it doesn’t improve I will definitely try those tablets although I don’t really want to take anything when pregnant :/
I would love to go on accutane after I give birth but I can’t if I’m breastfeeding of course.

I do wash my face twice a day and even use apple cider vinegar but all that does is dry up those spots and a new ones just pops up, nothing I use works!!

I really hope it clears up soon😫😫

Yes. It maxed out at around 14 weeks then started getting better. I'm still spottier than before but nothing like those early weeks.

Mine was awful till about 16 weeks, then got much better (better than pre pregnancy in fact). Duac gel is safe in pregnancy. Anything hormonal won’t be!

I'm the same and have been doing lots of googling on this. It seems we can't take anything so I'm doing what other steps I can - changing my pillowcase every other night, tying my hair up at night (so oil from hair doesn't get onto face), cleansing thoroughly morning and night.

My face actually aches and hurts from the acne so I feel your pain.

I have the same issue, it was really annoying in the summer when I wanted to wear strappy tops. I'm 15+2 today and for the last couple of days I think it's starting to clear up a little bit. So I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us that 16 weeks is the acne-free zone Smile

I had this in my first pregnancy. I'm sorry to say it continued to get worse throughout my pregnancy and did not go away after delivery. But that doesn't mean the same will be the case for you so don't panic. I think lots of people find their skin calms down during their second trimester. I was just unlucky.
In my case it needed six months of oral antibiotics (Lymecycline) to clear my skin up. I tried various topical creams and ointments prescribed by the GP and none of them did anything but within three weeks of taking the oral antibiotics I could see a difference. Other things that helped were switching to mineral foundation instead of liquid, using only Boots own brand sensitive skin/simple face washes (recommended by dermatologist), moisturising religiously every day with La Roche Possay Effeclar Duo. People will tell you to 'dry out' your skin to get rid of spots but all that does is means your skin overcompenates by producing excess oil, which causes more spots.
