Hello

Just moved to North London, and just found out i am pregnant with my third. I had preeclampsia for the first two, although i made it til 39/40 weeks. I originally was going to book myself in at the Whittington as want to have a go at natural labour again, and it is much closer. However, i have found out recently that i have hyperthyroid. Now i am not sure where to choose, as i heard uclh offers better maternity care?

Would be difficult to get to in the throws of labour?

Can only speak to my own experience. I had DD at the Whittington and am pregnant with #2 and back there again. They have been absolutely superb - I have complications and a lot of additional monitoring and they have been just fab. Post natal ward is a bit grim - but that’s the same everywhere. At least there’s parking too. UCLH would be a taxi - there’s no patient parking provision and I’ve heard v mixed things from friends.

I had an EMCS with DD and she was in NICU for a week afterwards. I’m having an ELCS this time - so they do high risk and complications well and their birth centre is gorgeous.

We were under the Whittington for the first 26 weeks and found them very impersonal, impossible to get hold of, and lax at keeping any appointments. We were quite glad we moved before DS was born.
