Hi all 16 week pregnant and feeling A LOT better than 1st trimester but one symptom is driving me mad - a chalky taste in mouth. Originally I had a metallic taste but this has now become chalky, every afternoon without fail around 3pm into the evening. I find myself snacking just to keep it at bay (yay for appetite returning). But I’m concerned about weight gain and also rotting my teeth as sucking blackcurrant and liqorice seems to cut through it. Also trying lemon water and ginger tea. Alas brushing my teeth and chewing gum just makes me gag. Anyone got any tips??

Keep a Smint under your tongue! Sugar free and the mint flavour should take the edge off.

brownies

I found extra soft mints worked for me. It’s like a minty snack, rather than the effort of chewing gum.

Soft mints or polos .. I am eating packets of them everyday and can get sugar free ones too x

Fruit, tic tacs, mints and make sure you're drinking enough water!

Try Vick's under your nose. The smell may distract you from the taste!
