Hello Ladies,

Im in need of some advice or reassurance as I'm increasingly concerned that my due date is wrong.. or that my baby isn't growing as he should ..

This is a little long winded so have a cuppa at the ready :)

I had been trying to fall pregnant with my partner of 10 years for approx 6 years now and try as we might it just wasn't happening then low and behold one week before I was due to be referred to a fertility clinic I found out I was intact pregnant !!! (Typical)

any way I had no real reason to think I was pregnant but decided to POS 1 day before my period was due and to my surprise the cheap test from boots showed up a strong positive line ( This was done on midday urine as opposed to morning) - In disbelief half an hour later I done another and again a strong line showed.. I was understandably in disbelief and shock and so proceeded to do the additional 3 over the next few hours and again they all showed a positive line.

Later that evening whilst still being in a bubble of joy/shock I took a Clear Blue Digi to which showed I was pregnant and the weeks indicator showed 2-3 weeks.

This was all on the 19th Feb 2018 -- I have long cycles of unto 34 days with an average period of 5 days bleeding however my last 'period' was on the 20th Jan 2018 and this was very unlike my typical period I suffered with no pre-period type pains and the blood was as bright as it usually is but very lose and with no clots which would be the norm, I also only bleed for 2 days rather than the typical 4-5 .. at the time I dismissed it and thought id just had an odd period.

Back to the 19th feb I decided that after 8 tests I was pregnant and booked myself into a wellbeing clinic to have a scan to be 100% sure at this scan a Gestation Sac was present but there was no sign of Yolk Sac so I was booked in for bloods and an additional scan 48 hours later, following this the next scan showed a yolk sac and so sonographer was happy I was having a viable pregnancy.

Fast forward to my 13 week scan everything was visible including a very obvious willy (This was not confirmed by sonographer but was clear as day )I was then given a EDD of 30th Oct 2018 - at my 20 week scan it was confirmed Im having a little boy, the lady doing the scan mentioned that baby looked as if he was going to be big and was advised this may be due to GD.. I WAS TESTED AND THIS WAS NEGATIVE.

I was asked to go back for serial scans due to being a smoker before falling pregnant and that they wanted to make sure little man wasn't measuring too small.

I have had 3 scans since then and all of them are measuring ahead by at least 3 weeks, the measurements taken was for BPD/HC/AC/FL and he is and has consistently been measuring on or above the 90th centile.

My concern is they are not changing my due date despite measuring 3 - 4 weeks ahead.

now I am aware that he could just be a big baby but as a FTM I feel everything has happened sooner then 'Expected'

strong positive dat before period due -
Clear Blue digital saying 2-3 weeks one day before period due -
Feeling fetal movement from 16 weeks to being visibly able to see belly moving with kicks at 18 weeks. -
20 week scan AC/FL measuring ahead
24 Week scan all measurements 3 weeks ahead
28 week scan all measurements 3 weeks ahead
leaking some colostrum from 31 weeks.

I have the dates me DTD and I'm struggling to guess which was the day it is either 19th Jan 2018 or 27th/28th/29th Jan // 5th of feb or 8th of feb.

I appreciate the dates are all pretty close however Im i so concerned they will let me go to far over if baby isn't coming whilst thinking I'm 3 weeks less then what I actually maybe --

If your still here then THANK YOU !! and if your able to add anything would be fantastic.

Thanks again for reading through my story !

Scans are accurate and all they’ll do if your measuring ahead is induce you early.
My best friend was measuring a month ahead, they induced her at 38 weeks xx

Ask for an appointment with your consultant and explain your concerns xxx

PeoniesandPretties · 06/09/2018 16:36

I was induced on my due date as I was measuring ahead... Just a very 'healthy sized' baby, 10lb 8!
Although he's achieving milestones in advance already I keep joking he was cooked for an extra month without anyone knowing lol!

The scan you had at 13 weeks would be a dating scan, so the EDD they gave you would have been based on baby's measurements that day.

My baby was measuring 1 day ahead at my dating scan, and is now measuring around 2 weeks ahead at 25 weeks. Sometimes, they're just big babies!

I would guess your conception date as being between the 27th Jan and 5th Feb based on your clearblue result. Assuming that you ovulated around day 14 of your cycle, I would guess your EDD as either the 22nd October or the 29th October based on the conception window.

This agrees with your dating scan (which is accurate +/- 5 days I was told) so I would say he's just a big baby :)

What Stephisaur said

Somebody's got to have a big baby.....by definition of the scale there will be approx 10 babies out of every 100 measuring above the 90th centile. Try not to worry OP, you've probably just got a lovely healthy chubby baby in there!

ThirdChildFourthPile · 06/09/2018 17:38

None of the information you have provided suggests that you're further along than you realise.
Feeling a baby at 16 weeks etc that doesn't indicate you're further ahead.

It all indicates that you're good at building babies and this one is a big one.

I make big babies as well and measure futher ahead.

The fact that you had a very early scan should give you a very very accurate due date indeed.

Congratulations on you're long wanted pregnancy!

P.S 'growth' scans are notoriously inaccacurate. I.e don't believe them.

I had an early scan and a 14 week scan u was measuring about 4 days behind but the left due date as per calculators. Then at 20 weeks I was 2+ weeks ahead of the edd so a change of nearly 3 weeks. Estimate Due date is still the same. They say the earlier scans are more accurate at estimating. 2-3 weeks pregnant on clear blue doesn't really mean anything. If baby was further along than you thought I think you would have seen the heartbeat at the earlier scans.

I know its hard to relax but try your best baby will arrive when he is ready and 37 - 42 weeks is term you never know you could be closer to 37 than 42. I'm currently hoping for that myself. Congratulations on your pregnancy baby will be here soon

Your most accurate DD will be from your 12 week scan. What were you measuring then? Didn't they give you your due date at he scan?

Grimbles · 06/09/2018 18:51

The clear blue will give you a rough timing for conception based on the amount of hcg it detects, which can vary wildly depending on so many factors.

Your actual due date is based on the date of your last period (lmp) , which will obviously add up to 2 weeks to the rough conception time given by the test.

Your scan will then confirm dates, using your lmp as 'day 0' and is generally accurate to within a few days.

So if you had your period on the 1st and got a bfp on the 28th, the test is likely to show 1-2 weeks but you will be considered as 4 weeks on your maternity records.

Grimbles · 06/09/2018 18:52

For the record, I measured ahead for the 2nd half of my pregnancy, but DS was a shade under 8lbs when born
