I have been to the doctor as I think I might be gettting an ear infection. Nothing severe yet, no pain, but recently had Microsuction and the consultant said looks like it might be an infection. Wanted to get rid before I’m in pain as I try to avoid pain killers etc while pregnant.

Dr said there is some inflammation so she’ll give me a spray. She didn’t seem overly sure it was infection.

I asked if ok during pregnancy and she said yes because it’s topical.

I read the leaflet and it said to consult doctor before using it if pregnant or BF. I obvs did get it from doctor but 85 seemed she just assumed so I googled it and medicines.org says not recommended:

*There are no adequate data on the use of dexamethasone in pregnant women. Studies in animals have shown topical administration of corticosteroids to cause reproductive toxicity.

There is a risk of foetal ototoxicity if aminoglycoside antibiotics preparations are administrated during pregnancy.

Otomize is not recommended during pregnancy.*

I’m not in a lot of pain. It’s not a bad infection. If there’s a risk of harm to baby I’m not sure it’s worth taking.

WWYD?
