Which date do you go with?

Hi all!

If your LMP date and the date given at your dating scan are different, which one do you go with? According to my LMP I'm 13+3, but according to my dating scan I'm 13+5.

Thanks!

I'd go with the scan personally.

Stargirl90 · 06/09/2018 14:29

Definitely the scan

AutumnGlitterBall · 06/09/2018 14:34

I went with the scan date, which was three days earlier than LMP suggested, and the baby turned up on scan due date.

PatriciaHolm · 06/09/2018 14:36

Well, scan, but neither are going to be exact, and 2 days is well within any margin of error.

ThirdChildFourthPile · 06/09/2018 14:37

Given that all the healthcare professionals will go by the date that your scan gives you, it would be pretty pointless for you to stick to your LMP date...

LemonBreeland · 06/09/2018 14:38

With only 2 days difference it doesn't really matter. My health authority don't change the date on your notes unless it's more than 7 days discrepancy.

FWIW with DS1 they changed my date to 11 days later. He came a week early, so I feel my LMP was the correct date to go with.

Viola82 · 06/09/2018 14:40

Dating scan or harmony blood test? Almost 10 days difference.. :/

I might need to have c-s and the nhs date is the fist one but I'd like the baby to have as much time inside as possible.. do I risk it?

CobaltRose · 06/09/2018 14:42

This is my first pregnancy (well, the first one that hasn't ended in miscarriage before 12 weeks anyway), so there are a few things I don't know. I don't think the sarcastic comments are particularly helpful nor necessary when I'm asking a genuine question. Hmm

Confused

No-one was sarcastic!

CobaltRose · 06/09/2018 14:45

Perhaps not sarcastic (wrong term) but I thought ThirdChild's comment was a little rude and unnecessarily condescending.

I think maybe you’re being a bit oversensitive and looking for offence when there is none there.

usernotfound0000 · 06/09/2018 15:51

Scan date. LMP put me over a week ahead but I have long cycles so I know I wasn't as far on as it put me as I had a good idea when I ovulated - the scan seemed to back this up.

LucyLou19 · 06/09/2018 16:20

Scan date xx

Stephisaur · 06/09/2018 17:52

Your doctors and midwives will go by scan date, so it makes more sense for you to go with that one :)

SoyDora · 06/09/2018 17:54

It’s called the ‘dating scan’ because it is more accurate than any other method at determining gestation. Although obviously still not 100% accurate. My LMP date and scan date are 2 weeks apart as I have long cycles.
