28weeks pregnant and I average about 3hours sleep a night. Any tips for a better nights sleep? Or is anyone suffering the same?

Pregnancy insomnia is just horrendous. Nature's little joke Sad I've had my baby today and honestly will get more sleep now she's here, like I did with my first. No advice, just sympathy.

25 weeks here and currently in tears over lack of sleep! It's hell. When I drift off baby kicks and wakes me but also I've been getting chest pains which keep me awake as well. The only time I get in to a deep sleep is ten minutes before the alarm goes off for work! I feel your pain, OP, it's horrible isn't it?!

Athers666 · 06/09/2018 05:18

@laPufalina Congratulations!

BrewsD · 06/09/2018 05:58

Congratulations @LaPufalina 🎉 very jealous, I would love ours to be here right now!

There's been tears here too @Athers666 Feeling a lot of low self esteem, I know it's just down to lack of sleep heightening my emotions... it's not fun anymore!

Exact same here @captainshortie it's like I can't stand the feeling of any fabric touching my face.. tried so many different pillows & covers but nothing has helped!

I m 34 weeks and I m afraid it doesn't gwt any better, I m still bad for sleeping however I find having a shower (I don't have a bath) before bed every night kind of eleviates the back pain, then I ll have a cup of tea and lie on my massive maternity pillow, listening to a pod cast and some nights I still struggle to sleep but I fall asleep around 2-3 hours after getting into bed xx

I'm 27 weeks and currently pacing the floor. Restless legs are keeping me awake tonight but last night it was heartburn. Did a 12 hour shift today and tomorrow I've 8 hours to do. Pretty sure I'll end up with 1 or 2 hours tonight.
I really hope this gets easier but I don't think it will Sad

Pillow spray and lavender scented body oil or lotion

I also (don’t laugh) say good night to my body - so like “good night toes, good night feet...” all the way up to my head. You shouldn’t be able to reach your head.

Good luck and good night ☺️

voxnihili · 07/09/2018 07:06

I was the same. DD is 3 weeks old now and I’m coping well with the night wakings as I’m actually getting more sleep than I was when pregnant!

26 weeks and struggling on and off, I tend to fall asleep quickly then wake up. Had issues with it before pregnancy too.

Don't lie there getting annoyed with yourself for being awake, do something to take your mind off it, I find reading helps I have a kindle so can read without putting the light on.

I also have been doing pregnancy yoga, it's the 1 night a week I sleep well as there is a chill out bit at the end that's really relaxing. We did something this week called yoga nidra which is like guided meditation and I turned into an absolute space cadet afterwards! If you look online you can find yoga nidra for sleep that you could listen to, may help you relax and switch off.

Hope everyone's doing ok? I've tried out Rescue Remedy herbal spray the last two nights and it's really helped me to switch off. Unfortunately doesn't help the waking up for wee breaks but both nights have been slightly better sleeps. Might be a placebo effect...but I don't care 😂

31 weeks here and lush sleep lotion has been a godsend!

usernotfound0000 · 08/09/2018 09:45

In my first pregnancy, I suffered really badly with this, I was up from 3am pretty much every day from about 28 weeks. It;s only just kicked in this time at about 31 weeks. I'm ok if I don't get disturbed in the night but 3 year old DD doesn't get that! I just can't get back to sleep once I'm awake. I did comment first time round that I'd get more sleep once baby was here, people laughed but in truth I absolutley did get more sleep.
