34w scan for small baby? Bump is huge!

Mw has just been and has booked me a scan for tomorrow. Baby is on the 20th centile line and she couldn't tell if the head was down. I'm 34w 5.

At my 12 week scan they knocked 9 days off of my due date. My dates were accurate as I used an app.

If I was still on my original due date, the baby would be the right size.

Has anyone else had this?? My bump is bloody massive, it is number three though!

And, how could she not tell how it's lying???!! I don't think it's head down and haven't for a while. Surely she should know.

Quite upset now, I was hoping for a home birth but I'm not sure now.

Was this based on fundal height? Because those measurements can be very inaccurate!

Yep! She couldn't tell where the head was either. The top of my womb is low down.

I know it's a big baby. I think it's traverse or breech.

I'd take it with a pinch of salt then. Scan will tell you more tomorrow!

It’s often tricky even for a trained midwife to tell which way the baby is lying. Undiagnosed breech is common.
Fundal height measurement isn’t very accurate so I wouldn’t worry too much.

I was told by one midwife my baby was 5th percentile and then was told by a different midwife a week later that it was 95th! Then I had a scan and they said it was 72nd! Don't worry about your baby's size based on bump measurement!

somersetsoul · 04/09/2018 18:41

I'm more worried it's the other way though. I think I'm going to come away on the 95th centile! At least I'll know for sure.

My baby kept measuring below 1st centile and I still had severe hyperemesis even week before due date...had planned c section and she was pulled out at 7lb 14oz.
Consultant said he didn't know where she had been hiding!
