10 days till Due Date - Not sure what tondo with myself

Hello!

I am 10 days from my due date and have been on maternity leave for a few days. We are ready for baby boy but I can't seem to relax. Heartburn is killing me 85% of the time even after eating numerous Rennies! Sleep is becoming impossible because of this.

In addition to this, DH works away and is home with me now till after the birth and I'm concerned he is going a little stir crazy too not knowing what to do with ourselves!

Does anyone have any advice on any of the above?

Thanks :)

what about some last minute shopping? you could do it online if you can't/don't want to walk round the shops.

You could have 3 weeks left waiting so I’d try and do something!
At the end of my first pregnancy I did a lot of walking with the dog, went to the cinema, did our Christmas shopping (November baby), had a pregnancy massage, met friends for coffee/lunch, had my hair cut etc. DH was working though so I only had myself to amuse! The last few weeks of my second pregnancy were far less fun/relaxing as it was basically just business as usual looking after a whirlwind toddler!

Thank you both!
Online shopping sounds like a good shout and trying to get out and about! Everyone around me keep telling me to put my feet up but other than the Heartburn, I feel absolutely fine. I think sitting around is making it worse!
I know everyone is different but do you wake up just feeling strange or were there any subtle signs of you going into labour? My Gran, Mum and sister all went 2 weeks early with all of their babies so I'm scared it may just happen!!

I didn’t have any signs at all before my first contraction... with DD1 I had my first contraction in Nando’s Grin. It was fine though, still had plenty of time to get home and settled before anything properly started.
Number 2 I had my first contraction when walking home from a toddler group with DD1.

I've just under 3 weeks until due date and feeling the same, kinda wish I worked longer but the shift work was killing me. DP just had two days off and we didn't know what to do with ourselves so took a trip to the aquarium and lunch. When he's at work I try and break up the day e.g today drove to pick up Moses basket, got back had lunch and now walking to post office. Otherwise meet with friends for lunch or see them in the evenings. Lots of tidying. It's so boring.

ENJOY the peace, rest and make use of the time to do things you like. Do things that you may not be able to do for a while once baby is here - go out for a nice evening meal somewhere fancy, go to the cinema, enjoy time with your husband one-to-one, maybe do some batch cooking for the freezer to tide you over for the first few weeks... I did a lot of walking once I started maternity leave, met friends for lunch, read books, nested a bit... my DC1 came a week early, so it curtailed my maternity leave plans somewhat, but I got a couple of weeks at home.

Pack your hospital bag (assuming you haven't already) - I left this FAAAAR to late to do properly and ended up running around doing it in a panic once my waters broke. I don't recommend this at all!

I wouldn't worry too much about labour starting unexpectedly when you're out and about. For a first pregnancy baby is unlikely to come whooshing out quickly without some prior signs of warning. Wink

Thanks everyone!
We just got back from our last midwife appt and the baby has had a growth spurt and she was suggesting labour inducing things eeeeks!
Before going to the midwife today, I probably would have said I would have worked longer as well but she was very reassuring about the need to rest!
I like the idea of going out for lunches etc! Will try and encourage this with my DH :) I don't think we realise what's about to hit us!!
Hospital bag is good to go but we haven't actually written our birth plan down ...!! We have been told by so many people to be flexible with it as it rarely goes to plan!!
