In need of some maternity tights today but only have supermarkets near me which don't stock any. Are normal tights an absolute no no? I'm 31 weeks with a fairly significant bump. Stressing out as only have one dress with me to wear today and my legs are not the best... why did I forget my tights?!! Sad

I found maternity tights absolutely crap and just used normal tights in a much larger size than I was usually. So you could try that. Will just depend on your shape... if you have very skinny legs it might not work.

@toothtruth I have fairly chunky legs but a really small waist (size 12 bottoms with a big bum and size 8 top). I think I'm just going to have to try!

Stockings/Holdups?

Meganc559 · 02/09/2018 14:35

I found normal tights too tight lol
Lidls do really good maternity tights. I can wear them all day without being uncomfortable x

I just wore ordinary tights? Tights are nice and stretchy so you should be fine

I find Tesco extra large tights work a dream they come up right over ur bump and I’m a size 16 :)

New Look and Next stock maternity tights. My local New Look had them in stock - according to their website - when I went into the store I couldn’t see them but they had pairs in the stockroom, just not out on display.

Next is online only.

I wore normal tights folded down so they sat like under-bump trousers. Fell down a bit, but ok (and I had a 10 pounder in there!!)

I bought some maternity tights from JMB but haven’t even opened them yet as I found normal tights in a size larger than usual fit fine over my bump (I’m 27 weeks with a good size bump). I’m saving them for later on instead.

I had to go for maternity tights, my legs are quite skinny so sizing up regular tights to accommodate bump didn’t work as they were baggy in the legs. But give it a go?! Or failing that then go for hold-ups. If you do want maternity tights specifically then H&M usually have maternity tights in store as do JoJo Maman Bebe.

H&M have maternity tights.
