Are duck pancakes okay to eat?

Hey all!
Can you eat duck pancakes with hoisin sauce when pregnant? A lot of conflicting info on the internet about various spices such as star anise. Obviously nhs says nothing about it. Is it safe?

Yes you can. As long as duck is cooked properly, just like any other meat.

Why would star anise be dangerous? Maybe if you ate 30 kilos of it. It's totally fine. Honestly, if it's not on the NHS website disregard it or you're going to have completely lost your mind by the time you give birth.

Erm yeh why would they not be ok ??? I ate everything I wanted in pregnancy as all foods are tested to highest standards unless you get non lion quality eggs or un pasteurised milk ? Makes me so mad how precious some people become about food when pregnant !!

Geordiegirl1988 wanting to be sure is not being 'precious' at all. I think that's an awfully rude statement. Certain spices and herbs are known to cause uterine contractions which in some cases have caused miscarriages. I'd rather double check than do something which could potentially harm my pregnancy that I've been waiting for, for so long. Thanks everyone for your replies.

The star anise used in cooking is safe - there is another similar plant that is inedible and toxic.

Haha no joke, I'm eating duck pancakes while reading this (leftovers from dinner)!! I'm Chinese...if hoisin sauce is dangerous then there wouldn't be 1 billion of us on the planet :P
