Antibiotics before I knew I was pregnant

Just realised I was taking trimethoprim the week I think I conceived. There's a higher risk of birth defects as it depletes folic acid. I was taking pregnacare in the run up to start trying to conceive so I'm hoping it's helped.

So scared right now. Anyone taken any meds before they found out?

Depletes folic acid doesn't mean you won't have a sufficient amount in you while you concieved especially as you were taking an extra amount. Loads of women drink too much, smoke, take illegal drugs and other medications before they find out they are pregnant and their babies are fine.

I wouldnt worry, I was on 2 weeks of strong antibiotics and was sedated too for tooth extraction, plus had been medicating heavily after that due to pain etc had no defects or worries during pregnancy or after birth. Like above said there's women that do and take alot worse

Don’t worry, it’s far too early to cause a problem. Even if it depleted your folate reserve slightly you’re on a supplement so you would have easily built it back up again before the pregnancy implanted and the baby really started growing.
