I am 37 weeks pregnant & Just had eye floaters. I'm worried it could be a sign of Pre-eclampsia?? But this happened just after I'd finished having a little cry. Could it just be that? Thank :)

I recently had a midwife appointment and she said there would be several symptoms with pre eclampsia. If you're worried I'd call, can never be too careful. If anything, it'll probably just put your mind at rest x

Yeah my blood pressure has been on the high side for the past 2 weeks (145/80) but never had protein! And been getting headaches for the past 6 weeks .. but they've said it's not a cause for concern, I was only at the midwife today but obviously Just seen the floaters tonight! So feel like I'm wasting time Blush.. maybe I got the floaters from crying??? X

I had visual disturbances when I had Pre-eclampsia four years ago.
I saw rainbows round the edges of everything.

I read that floaters (which I have, maybe everyone has?) are caused by microscopic fibres inside the fluid in your eyeball casting shadows so probably not a worry as a preeclamptic symptom in isolation.

But if in doubt ask your midwife to check for protein in urine, that would tell you for sure.

I’ve had floaters from before I was pregnant and they don’t go away. But I only notice them in bright backgrounds or if I’m really paying attention most of the time so they can just appear from nowhere and I think they can be brought on from stress. But of course get it checked out as it can be a symptom of pre eclampsia. Your probably fine though! :)
