I found out 5 days ago that I am pregnant. Last period 24/07/18 therefore now 5w+2.
The last few days I’ve been exhausted, had pressure/aches in vagina/cervix as well as period like stomach cramps. No blood just normal (maybe extra) discharge (tmi sorry!). My nipples have been getting sore as of 2 days ago. My preg tests are still quite faint and it’s scaring me! Dreading a miscarriage as all these symptoms are constant. My legs ache beyond belief just being on my feet for a couple hours. My anxiety levels are so high and I’m struggling to keep it together. Midwife appt on 20th September but I don’t know how I can make it to then. Urgh! I’m nearly 27 but am petrified of miscarriage.

All your symptoms sound like quite typical early pregnancy ones.

Can you google to see if you have a Perinatal mental health team in your area that you can self refer to?

Sumgirljess · 30/08/2018 18:11

That sounds like a good idea. I will have a look now. I’m just constantly worrying that something will go wrong as a baby is all I’ve ever wanted. Constantly having cramps and pressure etc is just always making me anxious and on edge. Not a fun way to live! Thank you for your reply

I had cramps up until around 6/7 weeks, as well as a heavy feeling in as though my period was about to start. I checked my knickers every time I went to the toilet!

Now at 24 weeks, so no disaster story here. Stop taking tests, just try to relax. If something is going to happen, there’s nothing you can do. You just have to trust your body 💐

Sumgirljess · 30/08/2018 18:33

Thank you.
Yeah it’s literally like my period is about to start! Such a weird feeling and I’m constantly going to the loo to check. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and thank you for her reassurance 🙂

I had period type pains from around 6 weeks. It had me going to the loo every 5 minutes to check. Sat in bed now with baby kicking away at 36+4! If any worries call your doctor

Uncreative · 31/08/2018 01:32

I saw an obgyn earlier this week (so you know this is up to date advice!) at about 5 weeks pregnant (ridiculously early, I know, my appointment was originally for another reason).

I was very worried because I had period pain cramps and felt like my period was due at any moment. I did not feel like this last time I was pregnant. The doctor said it is actually quite common and doesn’t seem to be covered well by pregnancy books (I wouldn’t know, I haven’t read any). In my particular case, she saw it as a good sign and nothing to worry about.

I definitely know how you feel I was a nervous wreck the first 13 weeks it’s natural. I got scanned early at 9 weeks as I felt some cramp pains and was going out my mind with worry. But all was good! , Most of the symptoms your experiencing sound normal. Is not uncommon to feel aches and period type pains as I now know. aslong as they aren’t severe and there’s no blood I wouldn’t worry too much. But of course your best to see a doctor with any concerns. Good luck

Sunshine275 · 31/08/2018 08:29

It’s hard not to worry but all of what you have said is perfectly normal.

mangowango · 31/08/2018 08:56

The first few weeks till you get the first scan are so scary. You look out for every little sign and your hormones go through the roof. What you're experiencing both physically and mentally is very common. Keep talking about it to others to relieve some of the anxiety. Best of luck.

TinyMarie · 31/08/2018 09:07

Just to echo what others have said, I also had cramps which actually felt worse than my usual period pains. It's perfectly normal and I was told to only be concerned if you get severe abdominal pain or bleeding. Very difficult to know in pregnancy what's considered normal and not and even now at 17 weeks I panic at every little twinge!

Sumgirljess · 31/08/2018 09:38

Thank you so much everyone! I think being absolutely exhausted and hormones flying around everywhere, I’m just panicking too much! Can’t wait to have a scan and make sure everything is going ok. I guess this is only the beginning of the worry and the stress eh!

I'm 5+2 and been having period like cramps since finding it out. It's a worry, but I remember having the same cramps with DS and obviously all worked out fine :)

Darkstar4855 · 31/08/2018 10:04

I really thought I wasn’t pregnant because I had cramps before my period would have been due and it felt just like normal period pains. They carried on until about 7-8 weeks. I’m now nearly 27 weeks and doing fine. I had a lot of breast tenderness in the early weeks too.

It’s early days yet but at your age the risk of miscarriage is probably 20% or less which means an 80%+ chance that things will be fine and that figure increases every day. It’s normal to be a bit anxious in those early weeks but if the anxiety is starting to interfere with your life, stop you sleeping etc. then as others have said it might be worth seeing your GP or someone else that can give you a bit of support.

As pp have said, all sounds normal to me - enjoy your pregnancy Wink

Emelene · 31/08/2018 18:06

Sounds normal too to me OP. I was also really scared of miscarriage.

I found this website really helpful - https://datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer.php

It's basically odds of miscarriage presented in a really positive way, I loved the odds coming down and the reassurance. I hope you find it helpful too. Smile

I ended up in A&E twice at about 5 weeks with pain like this. It was so intense I genuinely thought I might be dying. It lasted about 10 days and I've been fine since. Now 11+3 and all is fine, as far as I know.

SurfingOwl · 01/09/2018 09:30

How are you feeling now @Sumgirljess? I’m the same gestation as you and being having all of the imminent period-like cramps as well. It’s so worrying but it really is normal.

Uncreative · 01/09/2018 09:39

My period like cramps are fading but have been replaced with feeling like I did 200 crunches at the gym. Apparently, the muscles are already stretching. Not be cause baby size but hormones.

Sumgirljess · 01/09/2018 14:42

Still the same to be honest. Constantly worries me but not a lot I can do but hope. Also feeling guilty because I’m still smoking. However I’ve cut down from 30 a day (for the last 11 years) to around 5. Seeing doctor Monday for patches etc to completely stop. I feel so so guilty but I’m tearing my hair out without any at all. 2 today so far 🧡

Sumgirljess · 02/09/2018 14:35

Oh yes!! I burp lots anyway haha so it’s so much worse! And insanely bloated
