Eaten out of date chicken sausages!!

Arghh! Why didn’t I check the date. I have borderline gestational diabetes so I have been trying to have high protein breakfast.
I have just eaten two chicken sausages which I thought had an unusual taste. I just checked the pack and they went out of date on the 27/08. I sniffed the remainder and they don’t smell that strong.
What the f do I do now? I’m 33 weeks pregnant.

You don't do anything? It's probably fine, and if not your body will chuck them up.

There's not much you can do now and if you cooked them thoroughly, you could be absolutely fine. I was poring out of date milk into my tea for a day before realising it was off and everything was fine. Just wait and see if you get ill and if you do, speak to your midwife and see what they suggest.

a) Best before dates are literally that - BEST before, not RUINED after
b) They are estimates
c) They are almost always earlier than necessary both to protect manufacturers and encourage us to throw away perfectly good food and buy more

Relax!

Ok, thanks for all your reassurance. No I’ll effect so far. God, I feel stupid!

You have a brew and get on with your day. Nothing will happen!

As PP have said you will soon know if they were dodgy! If you cooked them thoroughly you will probably be ok, but get checked out if you feel unwell.

Best before dates only relate to food quality which wouldn't deteriorate over time to the point of being unsafe (it wouldn't be tasty mind you!). The sausages would have had a use by date (different things) but these are estimates based on when the producer can guarantee they are safe until.
