Is it possible? I’m having regular growth scans and have another one next month, I’ll see be seeing the consultant afterwards. Could I request it? I’ve had my heart set on one since the start.

It’ll vary from hospital to hospital. Will you be on a consultant led unit? Our local CLU has a birthing pool, but only in one of the rooms. It’ll also depend on how much monitoring you need and how high risk your pregnancy is deemed, so if you had other issues other than BMI.

A lot of my friends have wanted a water birth and have been under midwifery led care, but have been let down by lack of facilities. Sadly, unless you have a fantastic hospital with lots of pools nearby, or have a homebirth and hire one, there really aren’t any guarantees.
