Hi All,

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and can barely get out of bed, it's like I've been drugged! I've just had a gastro bug for two weeks and went through a period of not eating... I'm wondering whether it's anaemia? Or low blood pressure? Has anyone had anything similar? I'm not sure whether to go to the gp or carry on waiting for it to shift (which it doesn't seem to be!!)
I just want to feel normal again Sad

It could be low blood pressure, very common in pregnancy. I've had it this time around and it does make me tired, dizzy when sitting up, standing up or still for long periods of time. If it is low blood pressure there's nothing hat midwives can do but advise that you drink, drink, drink water. Anaemia should show up in your blood work so maybe talk to your midwife about that.

I had this at around 16 weeks op, it was a sure sign I wasn’t looking after myself properly - ie not eating/drinking enough, not resting etc.

I imagine the gastro bug hasn’t helped, any sort of illness will knock you sideways at this point.

Get well soon (and ask your midwife if you’re worried) x

Thanks both for the reassurance. I'm almost worried it's just low blood pressure as I had read there's nothing to be done about that... i know this sounds pathetic but I feel like I can't function properly and would rather not continue like this... I'll start on the water!! Thank you xx

I am 17 weeks and also feel like that! I do have low blood pressure. I'm trying to drink lots. Consultant also recommended eating a bag of crisps as the salt helps. I'm taking iron tablets too.
