Hey all, so I had a slight brown spotting when I wiped on tissue a few times for a day or so.. I’m away on holiday at the moment & the EPU have scheduled me in for a ultrasound on Friday.. I will be almost 11 weeks. The spotting has stopped now but I’m worried sick. So so nervous something will be wrong. Has anyone had a similar thing and the u/s turned out fine? Reassurance would be fab xxxx

Hand hold .... I’ve had it go both ways. Spotting led tin MC in feb (that was @6 weeks tho - and it just got heavier, didn’t stop start) then this preg, spotting at 6,7and 8 weeks, then a ‘bleed’ (filled a pad) at 9 weeks ( v brown looked like fence paint) .. each time baby fine.... then prior to 12w scan severe D&V .... baby also fine. Has the spotting stopped now? Very best wishes to you

I had the same thing only my spotting was more fresh looking - I booked to have an early reassurance scan at ten weeks because I was making myself ill with worry and thankfully my baby was a healthy and bouncy little bean. 💛
She's 14 months old now and just as healthy and bouncy! Best of luck for Friday. Smile

Thank you @blondiecub0109.. yes it has stopped now. It was literally a few wipes of brown spotting and then phased out. Nothing since. Also sorry TMI but happened a day after intercourse so not sure if due to that xx

Thank you @pastasaucehorder I am glad it went ok for you and this is reassuring! I am hoping for good news! It was literally a few wipes of brown for a day.. and always stayed brown. It has stopped now xx

I had spotting that got worse and ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks. I also had spotting that stopped (9 weeks) with my ds who is now 12. If the spotting has stopped that's a good sign. Hope your scan goes well.

Em0203 · 28/08/2018 11:05

Thank you @elliejjtiny .. yes I am assuming because it was just when I wiped and it has now stopped for 2/3 days.. that it will all be ok! Fingers crossed it’s so nerve wracking!

I had brown spotting for 2/3 days when I was 9 weeks. Same as you, just brown then stopped. Currently sat on the sofa with dd now 22 months old! Hopefully all will be fine. Good luck.

I am so glad it stopped for you! Also, FYI, when I attended EPU they did/May ask about intercourse. Each time I was scanned, and also offered a speculum check to make sure cervix was closed. Also when they did the speculum check they swabbed for the blood (with the bleed there was still some in there) and were wholly unconcerned due to dark colour. Although the speculum check is intimate, it’s no worse than a smear and I felt doubly reassured. I hope your EPU are as lovely as mine are... they can seem a little unconcerned but they deal with this everyday and overall they want you to be comfortable and healthy.

Thank you @sweetiedarlingletmein that’s really reassuring and I hope the same for me. I am hoping for good news because the spotting stopped and when I called the EPU they said because it’s brown it is likely to be old blood and has started due to intercourse perhaps. They didn’t seem overly concerned but said they’d scan to reassure me. I hope for good news it can be very nerve wracking!!!

I had this yesterday, I'm 7+5, our hospital was wonderful, got me in within the hour for an emergency scan on a bank holiday.... fingers crossed everything was fine and heart was beating away, the sonographer said that it could be old implantation bleeding that never came out yet....she said as long as it's brown it's less of a worry then red blood but any bleeding should be checked out

MonkeyToucher · 28/08/2018 11:47

As previous posters have said really, just wanted to add some extra reassurance! I’ve had first trimester spotting with both my pregnancies- First Baby was absolutely fine and now 14 weeks with number 2 and fine.

Brown blood is not normally an issue as it’s “old” rather then fresh. It’s also really common to have spotting after sex as it can irritate the cervix so fingers crossed you’ll be absolutely fine!!!

MattLeBlancVest · 28/08/2018 11:58

I had quite a few incidents of bleeding in early pregnancy. Up to about 18 weeks.

Some brown, some red and some clotting.
So scary.

Baby is 1 year old and currently climbing all over me.

Good luck. Hopefully all will be ok.

Sweetiedarlingletmein · 28/08/2018 12:06

Yes I was told it was old blood too. It is hard not to worry, I certainly did as I was flying to New York the following day when it first started! but it all sounds quite normal. Fingers crossed all will be well.

Thank you to everyone for all your reassurance and lovely messages! I had my scan this morning and my little baba was bouncing away and perfectly healthy!!! I am SO relieved!
