This is going to sound ridiculous. Probably loads of checklists out there but I need up to date knowledge. Last baby was 5 years ago and we brought every single thing baby related under the sun and half of it never got used! We've started a list but if there's anything anyone can add, that they found they couldn't live without put it on! Because my mind is frazzled and I am actually worried I am going to miss something because there doesn't seem alot there😂
Pram /carseat/changing bag
Side cot/sheets/mobile/sleeping bag
Changing table/mat
Nappies/wipes/sacks
Baby seat/towels
Bottles/ brush/steriliser/warmer/holders
Clothes, vests, sleeps its, mits etc
Blankets
Playgym/bouncer
Bibs/muzzys

I don’t think you’re missing anything in all honesty.

I had a big checklist when I found out everything was ok with this baby but I realised what a waste of money some of it was so haven’t bothered. For example, I was going to get a MyHummy (white noise simulator inside a soft toy) but for £50?! When it might not even work for this baby, just seemed a total waste.

I’ve bought the necessities which is:
Pram
Moses basket and stand
Cot bed
Changing mat
Reusable nappies
Box of baby wipes
Disposable nappies for hospital
Babygrows/vests/hats/jackets/cardigans/snowsuit (November baby)
Blankets
Towels
Muslins
Baby bath
Nipple cream
Burt Bees Baby body wash set
Breastfeeding cushion

And that is enough for now! We’ve decided to sort a bouncer/activity mat for Christmas.

Monitor?

I’ve gone for the minimalist approach I think!

We’ve got:

  • A cot which we have converted into a co-sleeper
  • A pushchair and carrycot attachment
  • A car seat
  • A bouncer (we had John Lewis vouchers to spend and it seemed like a good place to pop a baby whilst I showered or whatever)
  • Reusable nappies and wipes
  • Clothes (mostly in sales or secondhand)
  • Muslins
  • Sleeping bags (we live in a chilly cottage and I like the idea of being able to keep him warm without the risk of him wiggling under his blankets)
  • Changing bag (rucksack style so it can be used whilst babywearing)
  • One wrap sling and a Tula carrier with newborn insert

We got a baby box for free and loads of people have knitted blankets and cardis on top of buying clothes and a few toys so far. He’s due any day now (literally due today) so I’m sure we’ll end up with more clothes and toys and bits once he’s born.

I’m planning to breastfeed so I won’t buy any feeding bits until I know if we actually need any accessories or equipment. I do need to order an emergency tube of nipple cream though! I figure we don’t need a baby monitor anytime soon as he’ll be in with us at night and napping in the same room as me during the day for a good 6 months. I haven’t bought any washing stuff as warm water is sufficient. I’m not too fussed about buying a baby bath as we have a lovely big sink!
