95th percentile growth scan

I had a 30 week growth scan today and the (not so little) one is measuring on the 95th percentile.

Interested to know the sizes of your babies at birth that were around that mark at 30 weeks?

Both of my babies measured at 95th centile from around 30 weeks onwards, and a little bigger closer to the end. My first was 8 lb 9 oz and my second was 8 lb 11 oz. Had beautiful and relatively easy vaginal births with both (no pain relief at all with the second!)

DS was measuring 98% at low placenta scan (36 weeks).... everyone was warning me he would be at least in the high 9's if not 10lb+
He was born 40+2 and 8lb 4oz Grin

My second measured off the charts at 40+2 but was actually on the 94th at birth, the next day.

Thanks all. Not too scary then! I was expecting a large baby as they seem to run in the family. I was nearly 10lbs and my FIL was apparently around 11lbs 😩!!

My DS was in the low 90s and came out 9lbs. They kept testing me for gestational diabetes, never had it. He's just a big baby.

Mine was off the charts but was born at 9lb 6oz which then did put him on the 95th centile

Apparently growth scans are notoriously inaccurate for big babies, a bit more accurate when babies are on the small side.

My DD was apparently measuring at the 95th centile at 28 weeks. They actually started talking about induction before term if growth continued at that rate. I’m average size but DH is 6’5, so I wasn’t too surprised. They were totally wrong though - at birth DD was only 7lb 3oz, and that was at 38+6. So around 25th centile, not 95th. I think her long legs confused things, but I still don’t quite understand how they got it so wrong!

DD was mid nineties and was born 8lb7oz four weeks early. That said she was perfectly healthy and happy just incredibly long. (We're a tall family)
