Tingling tongue, lips, throat

At 15 weeks I suddenly got a very strong tingling very sensation in my tongue, lips, the roof of my mouth and my throat. It felt like I had a mouth full of cola! It was right after eating, so we presumed it was an allergic reaction and went to hospital. They were reluctant to give me adrenaline because of the pregnancy, and after an hour it settled down. In hospital I was told that pregnancy can bring on new allergies, but the food I had eaten was just what I normally have, and I’ve had no symptoms since. Is there anything else it could be? Nerve compression? My blood pressure is normal and blood tests were fine. Now I’m anxious about eating in case it happens again, and it gets worse ☹️

I have anaphylaxis and get reactions in those places but it’s an intense itching rather than tingling. However, reactions can get worse as time passes.

What was is that you ate - was it a known allergen?

Had you eaten fruit? My oral allergy syndrome comes and goes...

I had exactly the same thing, not during pregnancy but a few months prior. I was eating beef with soy sauce (something I always eat) when my mouth & tongue started tingling and then went completely numb for about 15 minutes. It was quite disturbing as I don't have any food allergies and never had a reaction like that before in my life. However it literally was a one-off thing...never happened again so I'm not worrying about it too much.

I’ve had similar during this pregnancy OP, the itching sensation inside my mouth has never been bad enough to send me to the hospital, it seems to be around my lips on my face that suffers most. My lips swell a bit and the surrounding skin goes red and sore almost like a burn. I just put some steroid cream on it and it calms down, it’s only happened maybe 3 times.
