Im 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant today , ftm, ive been having constant period like pain and back cramping for 8 days in a row, ( keeps me awake at night, you dont even want to see my undereyes) but no contractions! Pains last hours! my stomachs so low down that i feel like i could carry it in my pocket. Told midwife on Tuesday appointment, but didnt hear any decent answer apart from a question is my baby moving alright, which now got me worried and made me completely forget what my baby was moving like before and if the pattern has changed! ( told her my stomach muscles were sore when feeling the baby, i guess she didnt bother as i had to bite my teeth together for that ). I had no bleeding , no mucus plug that ive noticed, i dont even get discharge! Im very concerned that baby is ready but my body isnt acting right. I really dont want to end up not being able to do vaginal delivery and rushed into c-section. We all know that going overdue date especially after 41 week is nothing good for the baby. Placentas have expiry date too you know! 💁‍♀️

It sounds like your body is a doing everything fine, don't worry.

The last bit is full of aches and pains and this is quite normal. No mucus plug, no blood, this is also normal.

The problem is you're not in labour but it is getting ready. Hense the feelings or pain and discomfort but no progress (there is progress you just can't see it!).

I feel for you.
I had this with my first baby as well.

I take it your MW took a urine sample to check do UTI's?

Im just hoping that it kicks in at some point!

Yes midwife has done everything she normally does, but as im having different midwife every appoitment, its hard to keep up with them as they advice completely differently and explain things differently or dont explain at all, and tells me what a typical first time mum i am.

I feel your pain, I'm in the exact same position @Mairita 40+5 here and its driving me batty 😩 every pain you think, oh this is it and it turns out to be nothing. Really don't fancy going to 42 weeks!

@jellybean218 I’ve been told how im getting ready to go in labour since 37 weeks, as ive ended up in hospital twice with bad pains (not contractions)that i couldnt walk. But here i am still getting ready for labour i guess.

@Mairita awful isn't it, I hope it happens soon for you! It's not nice at all especially being told that as of 37 weeks. I was up MAU due to pain but turns out it was "false labour" all the walking, DTD, curries, clary sage and bouncing on my ball has done bugger all so I give up! :')

I was in slow labour for weeks before my second.

It's just part of the last month of pregnancy.
Most people suffer I'm afraid.
